Sampled at DLD 2013. It poured a clear amber color with a white head. The aroma was of medium hoppiness and citrus. It had a light to medium body. The taste was similar with a well balanced medium flavor with a small bitter finish.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 AirForceHops (1922) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 13, 2013
12 oz. bottle Courtesy of Queenholly. My English pint is displaying a lightly hazy amber color. Nice retention down the glass. Nose is indeed lightly woody with pine notes. Tastes of Earthy, pine hops, caramel malts with hints of toffee. Bitterness is light having the light pine showing up in the finish. It’s a respectable Pale Ale.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Brigadier (2275) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - FEB 21, 2013
12 ounce bottle
The last part of a mixed six pack, this was picked up out of curiosity. The result is a decent local on par with most regional only breweries. That said I am in no hurry to try more Mad Anthony unless there is a good sale going on.
Aroma / Appearance - The carbonated amber base supports an ivory head that floats like chunks of icing. Orange glaze, resin, and a wheat base are hardly aggressive. Instead it smells like a woody cabin at the beginning of the camping season.
Flavor / Palate - Resin, almonds, and grassy hops impress a bit. Overall this is pretty average for an American pale. If it were my local I wouldn’t be totally upset. However I am not going to buying more any time soon.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Drake (6594) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - DEC 17, 2012
Bottle courtesy of queenholly. Thanks! Pours a fairly hazy amber color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of woody, earthy hops with caramel malts and a bit of apple. The taste is herbal, woody hops, some citrus, caramel malts and a dry finish. Medium bodied, slight lingering bitterness. Decent APA.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Patrickctenchi (1837) - columbus, Indiana, USA - DEC 5, 2012
Bottle:
Clear amber with a giant......stupidly giant....off-white head.
Scent is mildly sour pine and citrus.
Taste is slightly bready....soft bitter herbal/grassy notes.
Not a standout, but OK.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 Suttree (4498) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 11, 2012
Diacytal (sp?). Yikes. Huge butterscotch aromas and flavors. It’s a shame, because I think I could detect a nice beer in there some where, but the buttery smells and flavors kinda messed everything up. Thanks to queenholly for the trade!
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 SHIG (3103) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - APR 5, 2012
Draft: Poured a orange hazy with white head. Aroma was strong with piney hops. Taste was very piney almost like evergreen sap in a glass.

Pours a pale orange amber with a creamy off white head. The aroma is pine, citrus, and fruit. The taste is hoppy, grapefruit, and firm bitterness. Overall, it’s a pretty average pale ale. Nothing special.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Pawola22 (3180) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 27, 2012
12oz bottle from Armanetti’s. Pours a lightly hazed, copper-gold colored body with a big, over-carbonated, very foamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a good amount of soapy lacing. Aroma is fairly well hopped with some florals, light citrusy pines, and a hint of herbal spice. A light caramel and slightly bready pale malts to balance. Flavor is better with some citrusy pines up front with a light herbal spicing and floral hoppping. Light malt backing to balance with some caramel and a very light bready pale malt. Finishes dry with a nice piney, herbal, light bitterness with just a touch of malt sweetness before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent pale ale. Pretty well hopped with a light malt backing that provides enough of a balance to keep this easy drinking and enjoyable.
