Draft at Mad Anthony Brewing Company. Small tan head that mostly dissipated, one ring of lacing, and an orange brown hue. The aroma was malty, caramel, sweet, and berries. Berries? For this beer style? What gives? The flavor was sweet, lightly bitter, and berries. Again, what is going on with this beer given the style? The mouthfeel was tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. I have to really question the style of this beer and have to really wonder if this beer was ran through a line from a former fruit styled beer.

tap at the brewpub - The replicale for 2010 was described to me by the bartender as a brown lager. It pours dark amber with a two finger off-white head. The aroma is of toasted caramel malt with fruity undertones. The flavor is sweet and toasty with a little fruitiness that struck me as kind of odd given the style, almost like it was run through the tap lines they’d been using for their blueberry ale. It wasn’t bad as a result, just kind of odd. It’s light to medium bodied and finishes mostly sweet.
