Soonah (406), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA May 2, 2008 From dankman38 via trade. The pour was very dark brown with a nice dark tan, almost brown head. A bit thin looking on the pour. Not much in the way of lacing. Malt is the first aroma that hits, followed by lots of chocolate and then some overly bitter roast coffee beans. The flavor is chocolate with light hints of malt and some unfortunate sourness. The mouthfeel was kind of thin. I think maybe they were aiming for a Breakfast Stout clone? Thanks again! Double Chocolate Stout is served on nitrous tap at Brew Keeper. The appearance is of a very black stout, with a thick, medium-brown creamy head. The aroma smells of a roasty chocolate, and the beer finishes very smoothly on the palate. pint_size (767), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 11, 2008 3-3-08 bottle thanks to the awesome CRIZAY!!!
Dark black with no real lasting head. Sweet yoohoo chocolate milk smell Sweet maple fruit syrup flavor. Not as much chocolate in the flavor as the name might suggest. It isn’t rich, but rather is almost just sugary instead. Palate is weak and boring and thin. Strange sweet chalky aftertaste. lb4lb (1058), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 4, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Crizay.
Pours black but with an exceptionally small head off of a vigorous pour. Smell is roasty malt, milk chocolate and metal. Taste is somewhat chocolately malt with a touch of bitter/burnt roastiness, but not much going on. Medium to thin bodied and way too little carbonation. In fact it’s nearly flat and feels lifeless and watery in the mouth, much like their porter. Stale coffee flavor more than chocolate in the finish. RCL (854), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Dec 24, 2007 Baking chocolate aroma. Flavor is alright, but the mouth-feel is a bit thin.
