July 2008: Mad Brewer Baltic Porter is brown in color like cola with a slowly dissipating head that fades to nothing. The aroma contains a blend of roasted malts and dark berries. The flavor has a roasty-burnt sourness that goes away as the beer warms. There is also dark fruits, lots of semi-sweet chocolate, and a tinge of alcohol in the flavor. The body of this beer is medium-light, so it is a bit thin and needs more body and mouthfeel. However, the beer is quite complex and enjoyable when warmer.

Draft sample at brewpub. Poured a clear dark brown color with a moderate creamy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium roast malt aroma. Medium to full body with a thick smooth texture. Medium sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. A smooth sweet drinkable brew.
