Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear black color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate toasted malt and sweet chocolate aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet chocolate flavor with medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid beer.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, and a hint of alcohol. Poured pitch black in color with a medium-sized dark brown head that greatly diminished but lasted around the edges. Lightly sparkling. Opaque. Flavor is heavily sweet. Tastes of roasted malt, chocolate, burnt malt, slight smoke, slight licorice, slight maple syrup, light tar, light vanilla, and slight wood. Full body. Viscous, coating texture. Soft carbonation. Roasted malt, chocolate, and tar finish is sweet and lasting. 11.5%ABV is slightly noticeable in the aroma, but otherwise hidden throughout.

22oz bottle at the DC local tasting. Pours an opaque, viscous black with a creamy, brown head. Rummy aroma, cherries, toast, licorice. Flavor is the same, dark fruits, cherries, toast. Syrupy finish. A little messy. A tinge of sourness on the end.
