Fridge aged 22 oz bottle from trade. Acquired at Dark Lord Day 2010 from Dr. Homolka. Thanks! Pours a rich opaque blackish hue, rich and thick with opaque black elements. A frothy tannish head dies to a decent ring, laces ok. Aromas are dark fruit, vanilla, and cocoa. Firm roast dies, with caramel, carmelized malts, toast. Sweeter nose with vanilla and dark fruit elements. Initial is heavier end of the spectrum, with mellow dark fruit and roast, toffee and roast, toast. Firm plum, faint raisin. Black malt, roast, coffee, and biscuits. Middle is bitter and a touch acrid, touches of coffee, roast, toast. A touch of malty girth. Backend is dry and roasty, bitter, a touch acrid. Seems a bit past it’s prime. But not bad.

The Dan Journal #470. Tasted 4/2/11. Blind Imperial Stout Tasting. Took 8th out of 9. Not that it’s bad, it’s just not as good as the others...Pours pitch and opaque with a lacing ring of head. Aromas of soggy malts with a faint grassy hop note. Medium to full bodied and a bit light in the mouth. Mild and rounded with a dark chocolate and fudge note. A maple syrup sweetness springs up in the finish. Good but light...

22 oz. bottle via trade. Pours black with a small beige head. The aroma, which was not very strong, had roasted malts, chocolate, and some ripe dark fruits with a splash of molasses. The flavor had much more chocolate than even the nose indicated. Additional notes of roasted malt, coffee, and dark fruits. Medium bodied, interesting OH brewed beer.

Bottle shared by Shawn: Basically opaque with an oily appearance, very small head and no lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and black malts, sugar, earth, a tad dark fruits, almost like it was brewed with an Abbey Ale yeast. There is also a slightly disturbing bile / vomit vapour that makes me believe that the beer is starting to turn bad. The taste starts with twangy fruits over chocolate and nutty malts with an earthy tones and a slight sourness. A bit ashy and burnt coffee as well before leading towards a subdued hop spice finish of sage and clove. The mouth feel is oily and smooth, a tad warming showing the alcohol character. A weird beer but I like it, but heed my warning a drink this now if in your cellar or frig.
