COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our bourbon stout is smooth and rich, but this imperial has got a huge kick. Brewed right here at the Brew Keeper in North Ridgeville, OH.

On tap, poured pitch black with a thick dark tan head. Roasted aromas, not much bourbon or wood. Thin flavor, seeemed watered down. Some bourbon coffee and chocolate, but overll quite lacking. OK beer.

This poured a black color with a thick tan head. Aroma was lots and lots of bourbon and not much else really. Flavor is bourbon, dark roasted malts, some vaniila, wood, and hints of booze. Pretty good stuff.

12oz hand bottle courtesy of hopdog. Bottle lets out a little hiss as I crack it...alright, lets give this one a go. Pours a dark black with a nice tan head that settles down to a ring around the edge of my glass. Nose is of prune and vanilla, but not overly strong or very deep. Palate is a little on the thin side. Taste is more on the dark fruit and a fair amount of wood with not much on the bourbon. Some ash notes linger on my palate as I sip on this one. Love getting hand bottles like this as it is fun to try. Not sure though if this one was true to the original. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t overly complex or deep in flavor. Thanks Steve.

Hand bottle. Thanks, BVC! This might or might not be ratable; I will be looking into that. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy tan head. Big vanilla wood nose with not much else showing. Creamy medium body, a little roasty, maybe. Something bad happened to this beer and now all the flavor is gone.

Poured an opaque black color with a thin, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted malts, light smoke and bourbon. Taste of sweet, dark chocolate, some caramel, smoked malts, and roast with a bit of alcohol, vanilla, and bourbony alcohol. Somewhat thin.

Growler acquired in trade (thanks!). Poured a dark black color with brown edges and a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of wood/oaky, vanilla, chocolate, some bourbon, and dark fruits. Tastes of lots of oakiness, woody, lighter bourbon, roasty, and dark fruits. I’d say this one was more woody vs. bourbon. Alcohol well hidden.

Thanks to hopdog for sharing this growler. Pours a deep black with a small bubbly deep tan head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, light cherry notes, some chocolate and caramel and woody notes. Flavor was lot of bourbon, wood, nuts, toffee and sour cherries.

On tap at the Brew Keeper. Pours pitch black with chocolate color head. Has a nice bourbon aroma with chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel. Has a heavy mouthfeel. Is very creamy. Taste is upfront bourbon, some chocolate and coffee notes, and finishes with more bourbon. The bourbon is heavy is this one, but not too over the top. A solid brew.
