UPDATED: JUL 2, 2010 This beer pours a dark reddish-brown color with a medium beige head that recedes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Sweet malt and molasses in the nose along with a slight chocolate note. Medium, somewhat creamy body with flavors of chocolate malt, caramel, and roasted nuts. The finish is sweet with a lingering malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 18, 2009
Experienced from the tap at the brewpub in a nonic glass. The beer pours the characteristic deep brown. The nose brings notes of melonoidins, malt sweetness, but also some toasted notes that are a little bit outside of the style’s guidelines. The flavor is a bit of a disappointment, promising a high level of maltyness up front, but giving far too much toasted and English roasted malt, and an oddly acidic finish.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 MAP (1133) - Lakewood, Ohio, USA - JUN 1, 2009
Single purchased at Rozi’s in Lakewood. This pours a very nice heady dark deep brown -very attractive in a tall glass. Aroma is rich and chocolaty, lots and lots of malt flavor here -like an imperial stout, but without the harsh hoppy ale character. This just fills the mouth with smooth sailin’ roasted, chocolaty, sweet malt on malt action. They might have loaded this a bit to heavy on the malt side really. As it warms up it kind of gets gritty. I wish it was a bit more towards the lager side of the coin, might balance it out more.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 cking (1175) - North Canton, Ohio, USA - MAY 2, 2009
Dark, muddy brown pour leaving a thin tan head and spotty lacing. Impressive aroma of coffee, cream, burnt molasses and dry toast. Mild mouth feel with a velvety smoothness over a medium to thick malt body. Tasty flavors of roasted malt and raisins with plenty of sweet undertones. A rich toffee/caramel presence and big nutty flavor rounds out the exceptional flavor of this bock. Well done Mad Brewer, keep shipping your bombers down this way.

This poured a dark red color with an off white head. Aroma was really malty and some fruits as well. Flavor was a bit watery for a double bock, somewhat malty and yeasty.

Bottle in trade from miketd. Thanks! Pours dark clear brown with short lived beige head. Smell is malty, nutty, buttery, creamy and fairly sweet. Taste is dark malt, but still thin flavorwise. Not roasty, but nutty and sweet nut brown ale like with lots of butteriness. Kind of an odd finish to it as well. Perhaps didn’t translate well to the bottle.
