kujo9 (1044), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Jan 9, 2008 On tap @ the Brew Keeper: Medium brownish amber body w/a lasting off white head. Aromas of citrusy and piney hops at first, then toasted malt and caramel to balance, though decidedly hoppy! A touch of diacetyl, but not overwhelming. No fruitiness other than the hops, and also a touch grassy/resiny. The taste is hop dominant, but not one dimensional. Nicely balanced by toasty and caramel malt while keeping it’s hop presence. Again, slight diacetyl in the flavor, and clean of esters. Piney and citrusy hops flavors throughout w/ a medium dry finish and hop flavored pleasantly bitter aftertaste. Medium carbonation, lighter medium body; creamy. Nicely made beer, with the exception of the diacetyl, but admittedly, I’m hyper sensitive to it, so it could just be me! Nice malt/hop balance and overall flavors. Goes very well with their spicy chicken wings!
acrdz (4285), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 26, 2008 Dark nut brown colored body with a frothy tan head. Rich flavor of cedar wood and pine cone hops, some fruit juices, some cherries and oranges… vibrant and fresh tasting, but also chewy and thick with a distracting bready malt body that is out of place in an IPA. Malty cherry pits and nut bread cloud the fruity hop notes. Somewhat rough bitterness, not helped by a coarse malt/bread base. Okay overall, without glaring flaws, but could be a bit better. Tmoney99 (3523), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 20, 2008 Draft at Brew Keeper. Poured hazy copper with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus hoppy and small malt aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture. moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium smooth bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. A standout beer. WeeHeavySD (1711), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bomber via trade with miketd. Pours orange with a 1finger tan head. Nose is nicely hopped with a nice touch of sweetness. Taste is sweet, hoppy and balanced with a nice sweetness. This is a tasty very drinkable east coast IPA. bgburdman9 (722), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 28, 2008 On tap at cats eye during ohio brew week. Poured a darker color for what i thought was an ipa. Had a solid aroma of hops and a decent caramel malt backgroud. A pretty solid beer. wetherel (995), Carlsbad, California, USA Jul 27, 2008 Bomber bonus from miketd. Thanks Mike!
