2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Dogbrick (4842) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 26, 2009
This brew pours a brownish-orange color with a thick light beige head that recedes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt and sour fruit. Medium body with flavors of malt, tart fruit and underlying vinegar. The finish is tart fruit and caramel malt. Not sure if this was a bottle that was past its prime but I did not find it very enjoyable.

Sample from 22oz bottle at the Brewkeeper tasting at Blacklick Wine and Spirits on 10/9/08. Pours a light brown with not much head. Sweet, malty aroma (oh yes, this is an O-Fest beer). Flavor is malty and sweet like most marzens with a touch of caramel as well, but this one seems highly carbonated and very thin on the finish. Probably should have let it warm up a bit. Overall still pretty tasty and definitely represents the style well.

Bottle sampled at Blacklick Wine and Spirits Tasting held on 10-9-08. This is one of my favorite styles so I was stoked to try this. It was a very nice attempt. Sweet aroma of toffee and caramel, with some vanilla...Tast was a bit spicey sweet malt with a bit of a hop kicker on the end. The hops actually complimented it well.
