This brew pours a slightly hazy dark orange color with a medium fizzy off-white head that burns away to nothing quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus and malt. Light body with a tart fruity character and flavors of malt and mild hops. The finish is grainy malt with a fruit aftertaste. Below average overall.

Bottle. Pours an orangeish color with a small fizzy head. Aroma of coriander and citrus. Taste is a little citrus and a little malt and rather weak. Decent at best.

12oz bottle from Blacklick Wine & Spirits. Hazy copper pour with a thin white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma with a bit of tart fruit and crisp hops. Caramel malt flavor up front with a hint of apple and a crisp hop finish. Not knocking my socks off, but definitely better than expected for the style.

From a 12 oz bottle. First its clear pale yellow like a lager then some sediment appears for a swirling show that makes this brew murky hazy yellow approaching brown. No head. Sparkles nicely in the glass, fairly appetizing appearance. Aroma is quite sweet and fresh, again appetizing. Some intense bitterness on the initial swig that reminds me of the sharpness associated with pointed pilsner. Yes a lager but it does have this intense personality. Overall pretty good but it does posses some of those rude ale characteristics.

12oz from BeerVirgin72 - thanks, Dawn! Gotta say this one went down well after a long day. Pretty much as you’d expect for the style, but sometimes a beer that meets expectations is what one wants. Decent golden fizzy appearance, modest sweetness in the nose, medium body, and a slight citric kick that goes over well.

July 2008: Mad Brewer Mexican Solstice is grainy with a corn-like sweetness. However, this is non of the typical Mexican skunkiness usually found in similar beers! It is golden-copper in color with a thin off-white head that leaves average lacing makrs. There is a very mild amount of carbonation. It’s good that it isn’t over-carbonated, but maybe a little more would have helped open up the aroma since this beer doesn’t really smell ike anything. This beer is light and feels thin in the mouth. It is kind of bland and totally unexciting. I’d pass on this one. I wasn’t even going to try it, but I needed one more beer to round out the second sampler...

Draught sample at The Brew Keeper brewpub in North Ridgeville, Ohio. Rating #5 for this beer.

Bottle. Pours a light brownish amber with a little bit of head and aromas of malty sweetness and grain silo dust. Flavor is similarly sweet... Caramel and maple syrup with little hops presence. This is interesting stuff but a little too sweet for me.

Bottle from The Brew Keeper. Poured clear pale color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Medium grassy hop aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Light to medium bitter flavor with a small bitter finish of short to moderate duration. My expectations were not met.

On tap at luckys during ohio brew week. This beer was easy to drink and had a very strong resemblance to h2o. The was the slightest malt profile but this was definitely made to please the masses. Nothing special really.

1/4/07: Deep gold w/a lasting white head. Lightly floral, piney w/ a touch of grassy hops up front. Very clean! Pils malt flavor w/ a touch of graininess in the aroma. Flavor is a well balanced malt/hop flavors with pils malt and citrusy hop, that is also lightly herbal. Clean of esters, and has a very crisp flavor in the finish and aftertate. Lightly dry and bitter in the finish, and hoppy aftertaste. Hops win out in overall flavor by just a nose, and a very clean beer throughout. Highly carbonated, if a touch biting from CO2, but what lager isn’t? Smooth finish, and light, but not watery body. Very nice, clean beer! Lagers aren’t my personal preference but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of this particular beer, and this one is worth trying if you’re there as it is well made!
