1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 alexsdad06 (2352) - Ohio, USA - FEB 1, 2010
22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear light golden color with a small white head. The aroma was weak pale malts, light fruity and grassy. The flavor was wet grass and strangely bitter with some pale malts. Light body, very thin. Even though this is not a style I get excited about, this was still disappointing.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 CaptainCougar (6854) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 12, 2009
Bottle thanks to Brigadier: Pours a transparent deep golden with a large froth white foam. Aroma of lightly floral and semi-sweet pale wheat with a touch of grassy noble hops. Body is a little thin for the style with a good amount of carbonation and very light sweetness giving way to drier grassy hop notes before a smooth, albeit watery, bittersweet finish. Could use more body and sweetness, but still drinkable.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Tmoney99 (7300) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 20, 2009
Bottle shared at NATIFEST ’09.
Poured clear golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate citrus wheat aroma. Light to medium body with a thin texture and soft carbonation. Light to medium sweet flavor with a light to medium sweet finish of short to moderate duration.
This beer was worth having once.

Shared by alexsdad06 at Natifest ’09. I look forward to trying new things from Mad Brewer, although I’m not sure why. This one is thin, watery,
and pretty bland. Not much flavor. It’s kind of like taking a good hefeweizen and mixing half of
it with spring water. It has the remnants of a once flavorful wheat beer, but it’s just a faint
image of what could be. Come on Mad Brewer, you guys can do better.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 AndyReynolds (624) - Wilder, Kentucky, USA - AUG 4, 2009
Bottle. Thanks to alexsdad06 at NATIFEST ’09. Poured a nice gold color with a fluffy white head. Aroma was very weak, but sweet malts and wheat came out. On the palate, there is no body it it feels very this and watery. The flavor brings out a bit of the wheat. Was not a big fan, a little too weak and no body what so ever.

8/01/2009: Mad Brewer Wisenbier... Aroma: Light, hints of butter. Appearance: Golden and well-carboned, foamy white head. Flavor: Lightly sweet, light wheat and hay. Palate: Light, not overly carbonated, watery palate. Overall: Weak, watery, bland, almost like a more malty Pale Lager.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brigadier (1940) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - JUL 19, 2009
22 oz bottle
$6.99 seems to the price point at which Mad Brewer has set most of their beers. I wish it was a bit lower because to be honest many of them are not that great when for the same price I can choose from other options. On the other hand they are a small operation; I can see how they do not have the same scale as someone like Stone. Either way this is a "meh" beer - skip it in favor of something else unless you must try every wheat ale.
Aroma / Appearance - The carbonated golden body supports a delicate white head. Very fluid the aroma of honey drizzled toast is crisp and simple. Honestly there is not much to this other than that.
Flavor / Palate - Fresh melon, honey, wheat crackers, and Cheerios come and go before you have time to process. Light on the palate this requires no effort to forget and major concentration to study. If you just want something alcoholic it might work. If you want complexity (even for a wheat ale) this is not your beer. I will probably end up picking a few of the lighter styles as stores clear them out but $4.99 is a better point in my book.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JaBier (3249) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - APR 15, 2009
22oz bottle. Clear gold pour with a thin white head. Wheaty aroma with a bit of hop, some malt and the slightest touch of vanilla. Malty flavor with a wheaty hop finish. Not my style, but not offensive.

This poured a cloudy yellow color with as fluffy white head. Aroma was pretty nonexistant but hints of yeast and some spice coem to mind. Flavor is pretty weatery but contains wheat, some slight spices and a tiny citrus flavor as well. Not too great.
