A West Coast style American Pale Ale brewed with equal portions English Pale malt and German Vienna malt to provide lots of malt backbone and a dark straw color. The hop varietals are Millennium for bittering and Centennial for flavor and aroma. This brew is not for the hop impaired and is sought out by hop lovers.

Appearance: medium golden air, short white head. Aroma: grapefruit and pine, light caramel malts. Taste: bitter grapefruit, tropical hopes, resin, a bit of paper, a hint of caramel and cardboard. Finish: lingering bitter astringency. Notes: Bitter and unbalanced. I prefer an APA with a little more malt. Draught at the source.

Draft at the source. Transparent golden body, effervescent, small, off-white collar. Aromas of caramel malt, pine, earthy hops. Tangy hops, medium sweetness, fruity, earthy malts. Light in body with mild bitterness. I prefer hop forward pale ales to malty ones, so this one misses the mark for me.

on tap at Heavy Seas Alehouse; clear amber color; light floral hop aroma; slightly fruity; floral hop flavor with citrus notes on a medium bodied bready malt base

Draft at the brewpub. Standard visuals, golden amber, clear and active. Quite snappy and nice. Earthy, dirty hop base, but still delivers that fun, American acidity. Good impression. (#5833, 10/18/2014)

Draft at Mad Fox. Pours clear pale gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like bitter spicy hops, dry cracker malt, floral. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like pale malts, creamy corn, and very light hops.

Some citrus and a big malt backbone here. On cask this certainly tastes more like an English pale ale. Finishes with light bitterness and some sourness. Pours hazy orange. Cask at Churchkey.

4 oz draft pour at Mad Fox. Clear light golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of floral notes, citrus, light tropical notes. Tastes of bitter wheat and citrus. Medium body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation. Not a big fan of the bitterness in this.

16oz pour as I waited out a two hour rain delay at a Nationals vs. Dodgers game. Pours a deeper orange with no head. Aroma of grass, candy and some rancid malt. Taste is just old, bland, nothing I’d ever in a million years order again.

Draft sampled at the brewpub. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, grassy hops. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
