COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An emerging beer style developing in the UK, golden-hued hop-accented brew made with English pale and German pilsen malts and then hopped with American Chinook hops.

Draft and cask at the brewpub. Pours a hazy gold with thin white head. A: lite floral hops and bready malt. T: slightly bitter, bread, citrus notes. Palate is moderate. Nothing special but decent.

On cask at the brewery. Dry hopped with HBC 342. Pours a clear gold with some very thin, white head. Nose was very pleasant, a really interesting white grape character which must be from the dry hopping, a little honeydew, some grass, some malt. Flavor is lightly sweet, mild honey, a little melon. Clean finish. I think the HBC 342 had a nice impact on this.

Cask. I can handle warm cask beers, but this seemed a little too warm. Didn’t show the hops too well, and felt a little one-note. Still, the beer had structure and staying power on the palate. So, not all bad and definitely worth the try.

On cask at the brewpub. Pours a hazy light orange with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus and bready malt. Flavor has more emphasis on the malt with citrus, spicy hops in the finish. Light, flavorful and easy drinking. Definitely a great beer to enjoy in the summer. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

Draft at the source. Pale yellow color, small white edge head. Aroma of subtle hay. Taste is slightly bitter caramel. Average.

Nickls (1809) - SE DC, Washington DC, USA - AUG 17, 2011
Cask, brewpub. Clearer light yellow with a bubbly pure white head. Bit of biscuit doug in the aroma and some earthy hops. Pretty much the same profile for the flavor, but perhaps a bit more biscuity here with a slightly earthy bitter finish. Viscous medium to lighter body with very soft carbonation. Not bad.

jcos (1520) - Maryland, USA - JUN 29, 2011
Location/Date:Tap at Mad Fox Brewery, 6/10

Appearance:Nice gold color.
Aroma: Light aroma of hop.
Taste: Well balanced between hop and malt, some spice in the finish.
Palate:Light body, covers alcohol well.

Summary: A decent beer I’d call a session beer(for me 5% or less).
