COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mad Fox Oktoberfest Lagerbier brings a bit of Munich Oktoberfest to Falls Church. We start with German Pilsner, Vienna and Munich malts and German Hersbrucker hops and ferment with a Bavarian lager yeast. This produces a deep burnished gold colored beer with a rich toasty malt aroma and flavor and enough hops to keep the malt in cheek with a beautiful, highly drinkable balance. Prosit!

On tap at Mad Fox last night. Served in a pilsner glass. Pours a very clear light copper color with a thin white head and a bit of lacing on the way down. The nose carries very light caramel along with a bit of bready grain. Light floral and earthy hops in the background, leading to a well-rounded marzen. The flavor is hit a bit too hard by the grain aspect of the beer without anything really rounding it out. Nice and simple, though not thoroughly enjoyable. Light and crisp body with a very mild bitterness. Pretty good, but a bit too thin and in need of a bit more malt and hop character.

Tap. Pours clear dark gold to amber with a medium, fizzy white head, medium-short retention with light lacing. Aroma is caramel and toast malt, light spicy and Noble hops, light sweet corn notes. Flavor is sweet malt, light hops and bitterness, clean with a sweet finish. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation.

This was on tap at the Brewery as Hitzig Frau Oktoberfest, if the same beer. This is one of the best of this style I have had. perhaps because it was so fresh from the brewery, great golden color, faint hops odor lots of apples and fruits up front with just the right amount of sweetness going to a pleasant bitter level, but not that oily type so typical of the style

~12oz pour on draft at Mad Fox. Poured a golden/light copper color, with a small white slightly foamy head. Serious sweet malt notes, with not a whole lot of hop backing. Flavor was pleasant malts, sweet notes, not too malt heavy. Pretty refreshing.
