Northeast Bucket List Trip Beer #3. Cask at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a thin fizzy light brown head. Decent head retention. Aroma of vanilla, caramel, coffee. The taste is roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, caramel. Medium bodied, low carbonation, a bit too much vanilla.

On cask at Mad Fox. Served in a half-pint nonic glass.
Pours near-black with a nice mocha head. Good retention and a bit of lacing on the way down. The aroma is quite intense, and is further enhanced by the cask serving. Good amount of roast and chocolate up front, along with vanilla and anise. As it warms, the vanilla comes to the front. Very nice.
The flavor hits from the start with some chocolate and anise, with roasted malt in the background. The vanilla starts as one of the milder components, but then pushes through more and more as it warms. Medium body with low cask carbonation. Really smooth and silky. Great beer.
