This brew was designed to be something special to mark out 300th brew much like its predecessor Batch 100. We took a different approach and took most of the dark malt character out and made this in the spirit of a rich West Coast Double IPA. English pale and crystal malts melded with German Cara-wheat, Carafa and Munich malts form a solid malt backbone. The kettle additions of hops follow with 100% American bred Citra hops to be followed by dry hopping with Citra and another favorite in the Simcoe varietal to lend a piney, citrus hop character to the juicy malt flavor. Enjoy this version now while you can and expect to see the rest of the batch in a barrel aged version in June. Cheers!

Draft. Small beige head with clear cola-dark brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some pineapple, caramel, light chocolate, orange. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some caramel, orange, light pineapple. Medium-full body, some resin, goes down far too easily.

Nice heft and good malt flavors to stand up against the soapy, piney hops here, which are in abundance. Slick palate with a medium plus finish.

4oz sampler at the Mad Fox brewpub. Poured a black color with a small off-white head. Aroma was sweet tropical notes and floral hop notes. Flavor was a nice balance of citrus and caramel notes. Alcohol is pretty well masked, making this pretty easy to drink.

On draft at the brewpub. Pours black with an off white head. Feint floral hop aroma. Flavors of roasted malt, licorice, and a strong hop kick. Bitter finish. Very tasty.
