A Bavarian Style Hefe Weizen, or unfiltered yeasty wheat beer, brewed with 50% German wheat malt and 50% German Pilsen malts that is very lightly hopped. Flavors of banana and clove are a result of the special yeast strain that is used to ferment this beer. Prosit!!

Appearance: very light yellow, perfectly hazed, with a short, foamy, bright white head. Aroma: bright citrus, cracker, banana and bubblegum. Taste: as the aroma indicates. Finish: clean, crisp, and bright, with lingering light banana. Notes: Looked like a Hoegaarden, great palate, delicate but full flavors. A really nice weiss, would drink again. Draught at the source.

Sampler at the pub. Probably shouldn’t have left this one for last as my palate is a little shot with all these hoppy beers already. Cloudy yellow color. Very effervescent. Champagne like. Well made beer. Lots of diversity here and all done pretty well. Worth a trip.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy yellow with some white head. Nose of orange peel, scones, english muffin, some grass, light spice. Flavors at the same, coriander, hay, white flour, orange peel. Full finish. A touch overdone for me.

On draft at the Mad Fox brewpub. Out of retirement or never retired? Pours a cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma of bread and citrus. Flavors of biscuit, a hint of orange and some allspice. Short bitter finish.

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a pale hazy straw color with a large creamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of strong clove, banana and a smoky note. The taste is wheat, citrus, banana, clove and pineapple. Medium bodied. Quite refreshing.

Tap. Lightly hazy orange yellow hue with a smaller white fizzy head. Hints of citrus and banana in the aroma with some light fruit sweetness. Flavor is not as snappy as I would’ve liked, sligh citrus and banana...bout it, medium to thinner body with ok carbonation.

On tap at the brewpub. Reviewed from notes. Pours a cloudy bright yellow with a nice white head and some pretty good lacing on the way down. Nose brings forward a bit of light wheat as well as some clove and banana. The taste draws back a bit from the nose, which was quite light itself. Mostly a bit of light wheat characteristics with a touch of sweetness. Some mild clove and banana sit in the background. Feel is light with good carbonation. Light without too much flavor, but drinks quite well. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-16-2010
