3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Thereís a bonus point or two for any brewer willing to try this style and keep the abv below 3.5. It is doubly nice to have it on a handpull, though the palate wasnít as smooth as it should have been. Malty, caramelly, moderately rich notes. But in the end, it achieves the goal of a mild, which is to be drinkable but not special--a beer for every day. (on handpull, Church Key, Washington DC)

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had on cask at the brewpub. Pours a beautiful rich auburn mahogany, topped with a creamy, sparkled, light tan head which lingers and clings to the glass for the duration of the pint (about three mouthfuls). Light aromas of toasted bread, cocoa and a trace of grass merely hint at the complexity to come. This is no mere pale malt with a touch of roasted grains for colour kind of mild, caramel, chocolate, tiny touch of coffee and the soft spiciness of English hops. Body is medium, belying the 3.3% abv. An excellent example of a much misunderstood and under-appreciated beer style. Bravo!
