4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Drake (6488) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - OCT 25, 2011
Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear dark copper color with a thin creamy offwhite head. Decent head retention. Aroma of wood, whisky, maple, toffee, berries and a faint hop finish. Amazing. The taste is strong whisky notes, vanilla, wood, toffee, caramel and dark fruits. Medium-full bodied, low carbonation, significant alcohol warmth. Granted I’m partial to Scotch ales, but this is a damn good beer.
