COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Stout beer in the style of the great Irish brews made with Pale, Black and Chocolate malts with a heavy use of Roasted Barley to dry out the palate and lend a very roasty finish to this beer. A very malt accented brew that is lightly hopped with the English hop varietal First Gold. This beer is jet black in color and is unfiltered.

Growler courtesy of MaltDawg at the 14th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 3/19/11. Pours a dark brown color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Big aroma full of roasted malts. Some smoky, chewy, leathery, tobacco notes and a faintly sweet finish. The taste is bitter roasted malts, a milky note, some faint caramel, bitter hops. Medium-full bodied. Quite drinkable. Quite a nice beer.

(Sample Date: 3/19/2011 Source:Other) Growler from the brewery. Nutty chocolate with hints of roast and caramelized sugars in the aroma. Clear very dark amber brown with fine off white head. Roasty with coffee and burnt sugar notes and chocolate. Black patent malt? Very dry with a bit of a roasty astringency which lingers. Light body and mouthfeel.

mansquito (3255) - Nueva York, New York, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Mad Fox cask ($5.75): Pours a black colour with a cascading head that tops off with a creamy head. Aroma is chocolatey and roasted malts. Way more chocolatey than I would have expected. Body is pretty full, by which I mean that this had a way fuller body than most other Dry Stouts. Also, this beer had a good amount of flavour throughout. Slightly sweet (definitely more on the sweet rather than the bitter side of dry stouts).

Draft at brewpub. Pours black with a half inch of brown head. Not much on the nose. Big roasted chocolate notes on the tongue. Has a bit of chocolately finish. Nice!
