COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English style ale noted for having extra malt and hop character relative to the lower flavor Bitter or Mild as found in British taverns and pubs. Our version is made with English Pale and Crystal malts and is lightly hopped with English Challenger and Progress hops. Color will be light copper in appearance.

Pretty weak ESB. Didnt know if it was trying to go for an English bitter or an American ESB. Too down the middle and non-memorable.

On draft at the Mad Fox brewpub. Pours a a deep clear copper with an off white head. Malty nose. Flavors of toasted grain. Light mouthfeel. Bitter finish.

On cask at Churchkey. Red amber body with bubbly small head. Nose is sour, spicy. Taste is slightly sour, malty with some citrus in the finish. Enjoyable.

Draft at Churchkey. Clear amber color, medium white head. Aroma is lightly toasted biscuit. Taste is malt forward with a dry finish.

Fantastic!!! Had it yesterday on cask. Utterly smooth and easy to drink. Extremely well balanced b/w malt and hops. The description says lightly hopped, but to me it seems a bit more than that. I could easily imagine going into a British pub and having one or more of these.

This wa sagain an unusual ESB, not much malt at all. the nice nose of hops, opening with wet mop going quickly to bitter hops. quite unusual but good

Pours a golden copper wihot much of any head or lacing. Nose bri.vs a y bit of caramel and hops, but is really faint. Taste bring s forward some good earthy, herbal bitterness and some caramel. Feel is medium with good carbonation. Drinks quite well, but the lack of nose is a bit disconcerting. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-09-2010

Served on draft at the brewpub on 10/20/10. Pours a hazy brown color with a medium offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, butter and toffee. The taste is very buttery with some caramel, bitter leafy hops and a nutty finish. Medium bodied. Seems like a good ESB ruined by a diacetyl issue, which sadly is not the last I ran into at this brewery.

Serving: Draft at the 2010 Fall Brewfest.
Aroma: The nose is malty with notes of bread and caramel. The hops are light and earthy.
Appearance: It pours a nice copper color with a small, foamy head. Decent head retention.
Taste: A nice mix of bread, caramel, and sweetness from the malt and an earthy bitterness from the hops. Well balanced.
Palate: Medium bodied with slight lower than average carbonation leading to a medium, slightly crisp finish.
Overall: Not a bad brew and better than he made over at Vintage 50.
