COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English style robust stout made with the addition of a small percentage of flaked oats. Our version is made with English Pale, Chocolate, Black and Crystal malts with an addition of Roasted Barley. This brew is also lightly hopped with the imported English Goldings varietal.

On cask at mad fox in falls church. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Toasted malt aroma. Nice balance. Slight bitter finish.

Draft. Pours deep, dark brown with creamy beige head; good retention and lacing. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit and light toffee. Flavor is roasted malt, earthy hops, dark chocolate, and dark fruit esters. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation.

Growler for Thanksgiving. A pretty standard but well made adn true to style drink. Great creamy oat malt body and nice roastiness. Slight bitter finish and good sweetness.

On cask at the brewpub Halloween Day 2010. Pours a very dark brown bordering on black with a thin tan head and some nice lacing. Nose is roasted malt, slight coffee, and a bit if vanilla. Taste is very slight vanilla and roast with a tiny amount if chocolate. Feel is fairly light with low carbonation. Nice and easy drinking. Serving type: cask Reviewed on: 10-31-2010

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a very dark reddish brown color with a medium frothy light tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Nutty and roasty aroma with some chocolate notes. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, oats, nuts, sweet caramel notes and mildly bitter hops. Medium bodied with a lingering bitterness. Nice beer.

Tap. Pours clear black with ruby highlights and a medium, creamy tan head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, roast, nutty, toffee), light hops (woody), and light esters (fruity) with notes of oats and sugar. Flavor is heavy malt (cookie, roast, nutty, toffee), light hops (woody), and light esters (fruity) with notes of oats and sugar. Full body, low warmth, medium carbonation and creaminess with a lightly dry finish.

On tap at the brewpub (also had cask). Pitch black pour with extremely creamy head. The beer’s appearance really reminded me of Guinness. Flavor had notes of chocolate, dark malts, and what I can only describe as lactose (probably just the creamy character). Taste was not overpowering and the alcohol content wasn’t front and center so it was really nice.

Cask at pub. Pours blk w small head. Aroma is sligh w roasted malt. Mouthful is a little flat with roasted malt dominating and a bit of sweetness. Just ok...
