4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 GT2 (5661) - Riverslime, California, USA - OCT 6, 2012
Tap at Mad Fox. Pours a low haze straw. Creamy head. Webby lace. Nose is fresh biscuit and papaya. Soft yellow, nectar fruits. Taste is piney and bitter with starfruit, oily, juicy nectarine. Sharply bitter in backend with a very soft, quenching mouthfeel. Very sharply hoppy and grassy. Beautiful passionfruit throughout. Very good. A bit more complete than the Dingo IPA but very similar, both were awesome.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Thorpe429 (4844) - , Illinois, USA - FEB 4, 2012
On tap at Mad Fox last night. Served in a snifter.
The pour brings a fairly-hazy apricot-orange brew with a thin white head. A bit of lacing eventually forms after a few swirls, though not too much. The nose explodes with loads of tropical and citrus fruit plus a very mild dank character. Mango and citrus come to the front. Really pungent fresh-hop aroma.
The flavor isn’t quite as strong and some of the fruit character gets a bit jumbled. Still, it’s really tasty and the mouthfeel is fantastic. Medium body with a slight chewiness and a nice dry bitterness to go along with the raw hop character. Devastatingly drinkable with a beautiful hop bouquet in the aroma, this may be Mad Fox’s best hoppy brew yet.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy deep orange with a thin white head. Aroma of tons of sweaty hops (very sweaty!), some citrus hops too. Flavor of grapefruit, lots of crackery malt, and hop resins. Awesome ipa, super hoppy and I loved the hop profile.

Pours from the growler a hazy, burnt orange with a creamy, lacing white head. Nose is really nice, zesty hops, garlic, earthy, pine needles, lemons, sticky hops. Flavor is sweet, limes, lemons, pine needles, leafy vegetables, candy, sour grapefruit. Full bodied, sweet, sticky, piney finish.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Drake (6503) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - OCT 22, 2011
Draft sample at the 2011 Fall NOVA Beerfest, 10/22/11. Pours a hazy orange color with a large creamy offwhite head. Good head retention. Aroma of earthy, floral, tropical and citrus hops. The taste is big fruity notes, floral, tropical and citrus hops, caramel malts. Medium bodied. Definitely hop forward but a beautiful hop profile and balanced well enough. Best beer I had at the festival, easily.
