Tap at The Rackhouse, 12/17/2012. Clear dark tawny brown with a thin dissipating beige head. Aroma was intense and magical; lots of brown sugar, boozy bourbon, vanilla, caramel, raisins/figs, and a hint of dark cherry and port tones. Flavor was magnificent and full and balanced and smoothly carbonated. Lots of oaked bourbon an brown sugar on the front end, without being too sharp or boozy. Then it gets kinda syrupy and sweet for a moment before returning to an oaked and vanilla twinged wave of caramel, figs, toffee, and black cherries. Brown sugar and oak finish with some boozy warmth. Wonderfully made.

At Strangebrew 2010 in Eureka, CA. This poured a muddy brown with a robust tan head. Nose of ripe fruit, vanilla, oak, caramel malts, and of course bourbon. Full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and a hint of alcohol. The flavor is very rich with the same fruit, vanilla, oak, caramel malts, and whiskey found in the aromas. Finish is long and bitter. Takes a fantastic beer and makes it even better.

On tap at the Bistro -Bal Aged Fest. Pours a slightly hazy reddish-amber color from the tap with a small but lasting off-white head sitting on top. The aroma is excellent, with sweet caramel malts, a nice barrel character with vanilla and slight oxidative notes, bourbon, and a little sherry. The flavor is bomb. Sweet caramel malt and toffee, bourbon, oak, vanilla, and nice dried fruit notes. Very tasty. Medium-full bodied with carbonation on the softer side and a rather smooth mouthfeel. I actually liked this slightly better than the brandy version, although not many others agreed with me on that.

On tap @ Stone Liberty Station. Hazed mahogany pour with a thin layer of khaki foam. Nice bourbon, vanilla, and oak on the nose. Plenty of caramel and some marshmallow. Pretty toasty and a hint of chocolate. Sweet on the tongue and lots of caramelized sugars and vanilla. Nice bourbon, some dark fruits, and fudge. Good marshmallow, coconut, and some maple. Pretty nice stuff.

12 oz. bottle served in a . 2010 vintage. Big thanks to BourbonBob26 for the extra! A: Pours an opaque brown color with a light khaki head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thicker ring that leaves sheets of lace down the glass. S: Very smooth bourbon, decadent caramel, some mild oak and a little fig. Earthy dates with some lightly toasted malts. Some bready flavors as well. Really digging this. T: The bourbon is a little more restrained in the taste. The oak comes out a little more with a lot of dates and figs. A little malty sweetness with some roast and caramel. A little less inviting and complex than the nose. M: A tad over carbed. Pretty prickly across the palate which is less desirable given the ABV and style. Medium bodied with a sweet bourbon finish. O: If it wasnít as carbonated this would have been a home run, but sadly the mouthfeel detracts from the overall experience of the beer. Iím really happy to have tried it as itís been a want of mine for a while, but Iím glad I didnít have to go out of my way for it. Serving type: bottle
