From the heart of the Emerald Triangle, Humboldt Haze Imperial Wheat IPA is a flavor packed hop odyssey with the rowdy character of the west coast style. Brewed as an over the top high gravity American Wheat ale, Humboldt Haze pours a deep burnished golden orange with a brilliant white head. Bounteous aromas of exotic tropical fruits and citrus reign, while a subtle balm of toasted wheat and caramel malts heighten anticipation of the first sip. Resinous explosions of hop bitterness are soothed and harmonized by the silky characters of light, sweet wheat and mild caramel flavors. Then it’s on to a massive fruity cornucopia of citrus, passion fruit, mango and papaya with hints of white grape, lychee and pine. The boldly hoppy and resplendently balanced finish entices you back for more… and more… fascinating the senses anew with each savor. Enjoy!

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and light pine aroma. Grapefruit and light spice flavor with light pine. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and light spice linger with light pine and light wheat.

Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Coppery gold and hazy with a nice beige head that lasts nicely. Lots of visible carbonation. Not a big aroma but some wheat, malts and fruit. Fruit leads in the flavor and it is classic west coast citrus and tropical. Nice and smooth. The start is fairly bitter that that fades. Fruit increases. I barely notice the wheat but it does add some smooth feel effects. A pleasant beer. Not sure why it needed all of that ABV, though.

Bottle. Caramel wheat malt and herbal orange peel aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet orange-peach malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel flavor. Hops a bit harsh.

12oz. Was stoked to see something new (to me at least) from Mad River - and a Wheat IPA at that! Honestly their own deScription fits it on the nose, so I won’t say much, but this one is definitely more on the fruit wheat tip than the bitter IPA. Flavors blend well but aren’t that loud. Pretty good.

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2015 On draft at the Mad River Brewpub in Blue Lake, CA. Pours a cloudy amber with an of white head. Nose ow wheat, citrus and maybe pine. Medium body. The flavor is tropical fruit and citrus. The pine shows in the bitter dry finish. Very nice. Update: This was shared with Strykzone via Facebook chat from a bomber. In brighter light I would cal this copper. Sticky lacing. Mouth feel is bold and thick and smooth like a lager. Better slightly warmer/ Alcohol is very felt but not tasted/

Bottle. Medium to heavy malt aroma of cookie, moderate orange for the hops, light dough and broth for the yeast, with date, brown sugar, alcohol and dried apricot. Head is small, slightly off-white with some slippery lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky medium amber/orange with a lot of tiny particles. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet, and finishes lightly sweet and acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a lively carbonation and a moderately alcoholic finish. Nah, tasted too much like those crappy Canadian excuses for IPAs.

Hazy orange with a one-finger white head, nice lace and lots of chunks of something. Aromas of floral and citrus hops, overwhelmed by the wheat malts. Flavor is dominated by the malt swweetness, with hints of spice and a gentle hop bitterness. Medium body, lively carbonation, prickly mouthfeel and a sweetnish finish.

Twelve ounce bottle - poured orangey and slightly cloudy with what appears to be yeast particulates. Nice hop profile, however not outstanding in any way. Drinkable for sure but not repeatable.

On tap at capitol beer and taproom. Pours haze copper. There is a slight fruit hop with not much else going on. Kinda watered down in my opinion
