This beer was originally brewed for a famous Reggae festival that happens each year here in Humboldt County. A malty bitter American Amber style ale. This mahogany hued ale brings an intense spectrum of hop flavors from the spicy aromatic to lingering bitter, all underscored by a full- bodied caramel richness. Try this brew with a little Jamaican Jerked Chicken.

Millvale beer Fest. Pours raffish brown. Hops are dead on this one too. Typical malt bomb.

July 2010. From bottle. A decent amber ale without really standing out. Drinkable at least. Caramel is dominant with malt and spicy aromas.

Bottle at beir Barron (the old brickskeller). Pours a deep and dark amber with a fluffy little head. This is what an amber should look like. The aroma was nice, but not at the same level of the appearance. The flavor was quite good, not perfectly balanced with a touch more malty flavor than hops. But the hops were definitely there. Quite a good beer.

Bottle. This is actually pretty good. Nice and caramelly. Sweet comes through with the bitter. Nice beach beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a reddish tinge and a smallish white head. Nose is extremely malt forward with some caramel and cereal notes in there. Taste is a little sweet with just a hint of toasting on the back end. Interesting.

12 oz bottle served in pint glass (from 2011 notes). Pours a slightly hazy reddish-copper with a modest tan head. Small amount of sediment at bottom of bottle (added). Subtle aroma of sweet malt and slight hops. Medium body and carbonation; smooth yet fairly crisp. Rich, complex, and well-balanced flavor. A serious taste battle between sweet and bitter components. Hops are more evident during tasting than smelling. "Crafted with whole hop goodness" indeed.

Tried this at the Mad River promo night at Yeasty Beasty. I usually like to get a different beer every time, but I think I ordered this one on three consecutive visits! It is great! Beautiful red color, full-bodied, lots of malt flavor! The hops are perfectly balanced against the malt and the smooth, caramel finish.

Draft at Burger Tavern 77 in Columbia, SC The Red Ale pours a clear red with a small white head. There is a malty aroma with some hints of hops or citrus. Also a hint of apples was detected. This is a nice red ale with body and average carbonation. The finish had caramel malts on the tongue and with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottled. Poured medium orange with a creamy beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasted caramel and nutty notes with accents of pine resin, citrus, and peppery spices.. warm and malty. The flavor found nutty notes, caramel, and a hit of licorice at the core, with bitter spices, pine, and herbal notes around.. finished bitter and a bit sharp. Medium-bodied with smooth, rolling carbonation across the middle.. good feel except for the finish.. this was aiight.
