4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle from BevMo. Small, frothy, off-white head with fair lacing and diminishing longevity. Aroma of light molasses and malt. As in the nose, caramel malts dominate the flavor profile, leaving everything else to play complimentary roles. Hops, with hints of fruity esters, hit on a light citrus note before giving way to a distant orange pith bitterness that keeps it from becoming cloyingly sweet. Rich and tasty, yet easy to drink. A good all purpose ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle-from the Beer of the Month club
Pours deep amber hue with a small eggshell head with sparse lacing. Nose is very malty, lots of toasted, caramel, crystal malts here, maybe even some lite roasted malt. a hint of earthy hops there as well. Flavors are big huge malt up front-toasted, cracker, amber, caramel but big toasted malt flavor mostly-some decent earthy hops as well hwoever, this beer may have a tad bit of age on it. I think it had more hops when fresh. body is lush and slick with moderate carbonation. Long malty roasted toasty finish with lingering earthy/resinous hops. Decent amber here!

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
It's a smooth Amber. No bite at all with a slight bit of bitterness. Way better than the mass produced ambers out there. Could have a bit more carbonation.

Bottle from Wine Emporium 101214. Murky red looking beer with a decent head that stays for a while. Caramel, toffee and malt overpower the nose. Very full and thick in the mouth. Faint trace of bitterness in the finish.

A very dark red hazy color. I passed this beer up many a time and it is actually very tasty. Hoppy and malty. Enjoyable thickness. A mad decent ale from Mad River.

Poured from bottle to glass. Copper red hue with fizzy white head that settled to a ring. Aroma is caramel, straw, rye, citrus oil. Mouthfeel is nice with a medium body and crisp carbonation. Taste is slight sweet with a bitter following and a dry peppery finish. Overall this is an ok brew.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From 355 ml bottle. Pours a deep mahogany brown with a tightly packed off white head. Aromas of fresh apple, apricot, caramel and malt. Taste is caramel sweetness at first before a crisp grapefruit zest bitterness washes through. Lingering bitter finish with a lightly sweet aftertaste. Well balanced - liked it a lot.

"a nice clean amber. nothing that will blow you away, but pleasant enough for a try, especially in the summer. a little on the malty side going in, with a ever so slightly hoppier finish. tends to be maltier..."
