COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer was originally brewed for a famous Reggae festival that happens each year here in Humboldt County. A malty bitter American Amber style ale. This mahogany hued ale brings an intense spectrum of hop flavors from the spicy aromatic to lingering bitter, all underscored by a full- bodied caramel richness. Try this brew with a little Jamaican Jerked Chicken.

Aroma soft front with mild sweets and hoppy top. Caramel touch with vanilla hinted by alcohol burn. Pleasant.7+
Appearance murky hazed amber with plus sized foam. Plenty of lace. 4-.
Flavor and Palate : Thinner bodied than expected. Frontal sharpness with metallic backing. Hops felt bit muted. Good not great.

On tap at the Yardhouse in Rancho Mirage California. Rich copper red-- striking! Fresh fruity hoppy caramel aroma. Definitely the freshest of the taps I tried. Very nice rich toffee and pomegranate fruit with a mild hop finish. Excellent.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2011 Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium to dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cookie, toasted nuts), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot, flowers), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of black tea and dried mango. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly astringent, lightly alcoholic. Quite decent for the style, actually...full bodied and flavorful, pleasantly aromatic, balanced, no weak points really. Not my kinda brew, but solid.

Bottle: Deep amber, fairly dark, moderate off-white head, foamy, a few rings of lacing.   Cookie dough aroma, malty, subtle hop presense in the background.   Also seems like some carmalized sugar, biscuit, and earthy flora as well.   Sweet malts on the tongue, certainly malty, a little bit herbalish.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   As it warms up the hop aspect seems to diminish a bit.   Does seem to finish with a little bit of vegetable.   I thought it was fairly well balanced, in the beginning.   As it warmed it became malt sided, oddly enough.   Pretty darn tasty if you ask me.

8/27/10. On tap. Nice deep red pour when held to the light, looks pretty cool actually. Earthy hop aroma with hints of roast. The flavor is nice hoppiness, both earthy and citrus, with chocolate roasty undertones. Much better than I expected!

Bottle from Taniguchi. Nice chewy malt nose, caramel fudge and grassy hops. Pretty amber-brown with a tight, fine head. Nice rich caramel malts, light chocolate fudge, plus good American hops, more grassy and piney than citrus, though. Solid Amber.

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 16 March 2010) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, red berries and citrussy hops. Malty, slightly toasty taste with notes of caramel, red fruit and spicy hops in a bittersweet finish. More than medium body, some malt sweetness. Well balanced and tasty beer. Nice one.
