Ibrew2or3 (1648), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA May 4, 2008 12oz bottle pours murky copper with tan head. The aroma is crystal malts, faint caramel, molasses, toffee and faint dark fruity esters mixing with a hint of pine hops. This has a tasty malt flavor with roasted to highly roasted malts, crystal malts and to a lesser extent sweet molasses followed up by mild vague hop bitterness.
BeerFanDan17 (359), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Aug 18, 2008 Sampled at Oregon Brewer’s Festival, July ’08. Fruity and hoppy, but balanced with maltiness for sweetness. Very tasty. junon (131), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Aug 4, 2008 Dark, mahogany, woody, Earthy, and rich all come to mind. First thing I noticed was the sediment I mean this has to be the most sediment I’ve ever seen in a single bottle. Seriously not even the cloudiest of Hefeweizens have I seen this much sediment. Appearance wise this red ale is the epidamy of red beers. With that said the flavor does not quite hold up to the way it looks. Much more lite that I had expected but it does have this nice little spicy bite in the after taste. The description says its 6.6% alc but its masked very well. This is an interesting one and I do plan on trying it a few more times. alexanderj (1218), San Diego, California, USA Aug 3, 2008 Bottle; pored a dark amber with an off white head. Aroma of fruit, caramel, flowers and nuts. Pretty enjoyable flavor. Caramel and nutty upfront. Floral and grassy finish. Nothing unexpected, just a solid brew. elihapa (232), Hawaii, USA Jul 26, 2008 Bottle, sampled during blind tasting. Pours an amber-brown and cloudy. Aroma of wood, caramel malt, and fruit. Full-bodied flavor of dark fruit, marbled caramel malt, a touch of soil and some hops. Overall, sweet and tasty. alobar (612), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 20, 2008 Surprised this rated so low. Pours a dark copper with a thin white head. Good lacing. Aroma of hops and malt. Hops with floral notes and some malt on the tastebuds. Very enjoyable after cutting the grass.
