COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer was originally brewed for a famous Reggae festival that happens each year here in Humboldt County. A malty bitter American Amber style ale. This mahogany hued ale brings an intense spectrum of hop flavors from the spicy aromatic to lingering bitter, all underscored by a full- bodied caramel richness. Try this brew with a little Jamaican Jerked Chicken.

Bottle. Poured a copper-mahogany color with a thick, fluffy off-white head that slowly faded to a thick layer and left some thick spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, a light spiciness, licorice, and a ripe fruitiness (apple, plum). Smooth, lightly sweet entry with a soft ripe fruitiness paired with a bready, nutty maltiness with some caramel that transitions into a moderately dry, leafy hoppiness that imparts a soft citrus fruitiness that lingers into the finish where it is paired with a plum sweetness. Moderate carbonation and medium mouth feel with a solid dryness. Overall, it was much better than I was expecting. The nice malty sweetness is offset well by the hoppy dryness, making it rather pleasurable to drink.

2 fen 2015, tap. Light Amber, clear, no bubbles. Nose is grassy hops and dry bread crust. Ned body and moderately fizzy. Acidic Amber malt and faint grassy hops. Some noticeable alcohol. Light bitter finish. Nice enough for an amber ale.

Hazy reddish brown with a one-finger head and spotty lace. Aromas of biscuit, citrus with a floral hops and caramel. The taste is bready malt, sweet toffee, honey, orange and some hop bitterness on the back end. Light to medium body, modest carbonation, sticky mouthfeel and a sweetish finish.

12 oz. bottle from BevMo. Small, frothy, off-white head with fair lacing and diminishing longevity. Aroma of light molasses and malt. As in the nose, caramel malts dominate the flavor profile, leaving everything else to play complimentary roles. Hops, with hints of fruity esters, hit on a light citrus note before giving way to a distant orange pith bitterness that keeps it from becoming cloyingly sweet. Rich and tasty, yet easy to drink. A good all purpose ale.

Bottle-from the Beer of the Month club Pours deep amber hue with a small eggshell head with sparse lacing. Nose is very malty, lots of toasted, caramel, crystal malts here, maybe even some lite roasted malt. a hint of earthy hops there as well. Flavors are big huge malt up front-toasted, cracker, amber, caramel but big toasted malt flavor mostly-some decent earthy hops as well hwoever, this beer may have a tad bit of age on it. I think it had more hops when fresh. body is lush and slick with moderate carbonation. Long malty roasted toasty finish with lingering earthy/resinous hops. Decent amber here!

It's a smooth Amber. No bite at all with a slight bit of bitterness. Way better than the mass produced ambers out there. Could have a bit more carbonation.

Bottle from Wine Emporium 101214. Murky red looking beer with a decent head that stays for a while. Caramel, toffee and malt overpower the nose. Very full and thick in the mouth. Faint trace of bitterness in the finish.

A very dark red hazy color. I passed this beer up many a time and it is actually very tasty. Hoppy and malty. Enjoyable thickness. A mad decent ale from Mad River.
