COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the second offering in our JAMAICA line of ales. We didn’t want to make another IPA like everybody else so we opted for our own style. Unfortunately the gang at the BATF wouldn’t let us use "West Indies" on the label stating that there is no such place. We all thought that Columbus was looking for the West Indies and ended up here by mistake. Oh well. We call this beer Jamaica Sunset because of its golden reddish hue. We use five different hops for aroma, bitterness and floral character. You get a crisp clean flavor and complex hop finish.

Not a very impressive IPA. A hazy yellow color. Not much aroma; a slightly sour rather than hoppy taste. I was disappointed

This hits you with a weird mustard type smell, very atypical of the usual hopped up smells of IPAs, and it pours an ordinary clear golden straw, a little bit on the pale side. A good bitter balance, but there’s a strange aftertaste. This is a very mild IPA with a hint of citrus, something interesting to try that is a little different than the rest. A tame IPA for those who don’t care for the usual over the top, hop-head IPAs.

A run of the mill IPA. Strong hops flavor that is very bitter and a touch of malt to temper it a bit. There are better IPA’s out there, but this one will definately hit the spot.

ANOTHER solid WC IPA. Nice piney and resiny aroma. Hops are solid, but hardly overwhelming. Malt is fairly big with that characteristic WC toffee and caramel shining through. Not bad, but plenty of better WC IPAs out there. Light in color - sorta amber - with no lasting head.

Way, way too sweet for my tastes for an IPA. Did not enjoy the hops as I would liked to have.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2004 Here's that sappy NW hop aroma again, alongside dessert apples, honey, medicine, chalk, and candied pineapples with some nice pale malt undertones in this attractive aroma. Pours very cloudy and unfiltered. The mouthfeel provides a fair softness and slickness. Flavors that follow are dominant of pineapples and pale malts. There is a discerning bitterness, but not enough to make you scream. Another well made West Coast IPA rendition.

I was very surprised of the very different taste of this one. Very floral aroma with somewhat a citrus/pineapple flavor finished by a mild bitter taste. Perfect for a summer evening.

Nice orange color; zero head; and sweet hops aroma. Good spice up front. Dry. Nice, sharp mouthfeel with slight citrus notes after the beer warms a bit.

Very hazy orange-tan with loud and bright pine hop aroma that subsides into having more malt features. The finish is clean -- only slightly bitter. There’s also more malt present than the typical IPA. Balanced with a full bitter but atypical, this is an interesting and good beer.
