COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the second offering in our JAMAICA line of ales. We didn’t want to make another IPA like everybody else so we opted for our own style. Unfortunately the gang at the BATF wouldn’t let us use "West Indies" on the label stating that there is no such place. We all thought that Columbus was looking for the West Indies and ended up here by mistake. Oh well. We call this beer Jamaica Sunset because of its golden reddish hue. We use five different hops for aroma, bitterness and floral character. You get a crisp clean flavor and complex hop finish.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2014 Pours a cloudy copper, minimal head. Aroma is ripe citrus. Smooth and soft on the palate. Definite hop finish. Chewy and bready, a lot of body. Has some odd notes for an IPA, but overall, I like it the variations and the body. (updated rating when I could see it in context of my other IPA ratings - strictly speaking, as an IPA it should rate lower, because it’s off-type; but, it gets this rating because it’s pretty drinkable).

Bottle at Cherry Bomb. Cloudy gold. Pine, reisin hop nose. Malt and reisin flavour, nice dry hop finish.

Bottle from Archive Beer Boutique January 2014. Pretty decent IPA that is easy to drink and goes down well. No pretensions with this beer.

Poured dark red-brown from a 12 oz bottle. Excellent, creamy tan head. Great retention. Flavor: Orange peel, other citrus and some floral hop notes. Strong. High bitterness. Feel: Full bodied with perfect , soft carbonation. O: while partly tamed by a larger and darker malt load, this IPA has plenty of hop power to satisfy hop heads.

Nearly everything you would want in an IPA. High alcohol content that you can taste, rich hoppiness, not too thick.

Pleasant - not exciting - more malt than herbal hops - slightly rough edge to this one - nice bitterness but falls away quickly. For me this is an amped up Brit Bitter - Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is a similar style but way more outstanding IMHO.

Another old IPA at the Millvale beer Fest. Lovely. Just a malt bomb. Need to try again because the backbone isn't bad.

355mL bottle. Pours slightly cloudy light amber with a sweet tropical fruit aroma. Big bitter kick with a nice floursome zesty citrus, grapefruit specifically, hit. Not bad at all.

Bottle. Cloudy amber with an inch of white head that never quite disappears. Aroma of over-ripe grapefruit, Butter Menthols, peach. Sweet and fruity - peaches, grapefruit, orange - dries out a lot and is quite woody and herbal at the quite aggressive bitter finish. A bit burning there too. Odd, worth another look.
