COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the second offering in our JAMAICA line of ales. We didn’t want to make another IPA like everybody else so we opted for our own style. Unfortunately the gang at the BATF wouldn’t let us use "West Indies" on the label stating that there is no such place. We all thought that Columbus was looking for the West Indies and ended up here by mistake. Oh well. We call this beer Jamaica Sunset because of its golden reddish hue. We use five different hops for aroma, bitterness and floral character. You get a crisp clean flavor and complex hop finish.

October 2011. Bottle. Orange amber color with a white head. Not much in terms of structure and balance. Some caramel flavors blended with citrus.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange-tan color with a smallish white head. Nose is hoppy and bitter, but smells like the hops have turned. Taste is bitter, but tastes old. Sat on the shelf too long. Meh.

Single bottle. Pours a hazy copper with minimal head. Mild lacing. Nose is dominated by malt with some floral hops. Hop character seems a little trampled by the malt. Some peculiar sweetness in the finish. Overall, not bad but kind of an awkward IPA.

Pretty straight-forward ipa with some red ale characteristics. Not bad, not great.

Nice looking, bright orange, hazy. Nose is mild pine forest. Nose starts with a bit of malt, the middle has plenty of hops, that give way to a clean finish with a bit of lemon.

On tap. Pours a golden amber with a small white head that has decent retention and leaves some light lacing on the glass. The aroma is caramel, light grapefruit, orange, and some light floral notes. The taste is sweet orange, sugar cookie, and some light grapefruit. Finish has a decent bitterness with a lingering orange sweetness. Medium body. Medium carbonation. A bit too sweet.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks Tom. Hazy orange. Aroma of floral and citric hops, kinda stale. Flavor has light sweetish maltiness and a bitter and slightly grapefruity finish. Medium-bodied.
