Poured from bottle to glass 2012. Copper hue with off white head that dissipated to a ring with yeast sediment in the bottle. Aroma is malt centric with essences of caramel, floral, butter, roast, earthy. Mouthfeel is great with medium body and good carbonation. Taste is sweet throughout with a bitterness following and a slight sharpness in the finish. Overall, this is a decent barleywine that I enjoyed. Not quite as malty as an English but not as hoppy as an American...kind of in the middle and nice.

Vintage 2008, 9.1%ABV A: Pours a dark, murky chestnut ale. Single finger head of vanilla foam dissipates in a few minutes to a moderate sheet of the same. Spotty lacing. S: toffee, caramel, good sweet malts. Slight hints of piney hops continue to live in this beer which is a surprise. The beer has a slight oxidized nose, which provides good balance actually. Slight hint of cinnamon. T: Graham, brown sugar, toffee, raisins. Although nice, quite one dimensional. Fair amount of bitterness at the back end. ABV well hidden, but still detectable. M: Medium to heavy body with moderate carbonation apply well here. Sticky and chewy. D: Very drinkable beer. Not the best, but good. Have a few bottles still and will hold onto them and send out as extras. Serving type: bottle 03-18-2011

Pours brown with little carbonation. Light aroma of malt and vanilla. Quite tasty with sweet malt and kinda light hops for a barleywine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Market Square. Deep chestnut pour with ruby highlights and a small white head. Raisin and cherry aroma with caramel malts, brown sugar, almonds and peanuts. Sweet smooth flavor with the above mentioned flavors. Medium thickish body that's not cloying and has warm alcohol. Not too shabby

12oz bottle, pours dark reddish brown. Some fruit and malts in the nose. Malt flavors mixed with caramels, followed by well blended hops in the background. overall, quite smooth with a lot of burn from the alcohol in the finish. Nothing outstanding.

355ml bottle. Pours a hazy orangey brown. Half a finger of head that recedes to a ring. Nose is very hoppy, red fruit sticky. Nice caramel, butterscotch taste. Pretty good I have to say, the taste isn’t too heavy on the hops and it’s nicely balanced.

Bottle shared at a tasting at our place. Hazy brown. A little alcoholic, apple and some chocolate aroma, chocolate, earthy taste - rich and lingering. Smooth, full-bodied, hardy any carbonation and long, chocolate-like finish.
