4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2008 vintage. Pours ruby with a thin khaki head. Smells like toffee, citrus, plum, and vanilla. The flavor is sweet and sticky with notes of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, citrus, and a touch of vanilla. Starts off sweet and drys out some by the finish. Alcohol goes completely unnoticed except for the sweetness. A quaffable barleywine? I think so.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2012 bottle. Aroma of dark fruits, yeast, some alcohol and cola. Taste is young and lively, but some concentrated raisins and deep fruity malt come shining through. Some alcohol on the back end. Finish is a little lacking but this is still pretty good. Would like to see how it ages.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft - Brown sugar, raisin and oaky notes. Cloudy maroon with a thin head. Oaky, brown sugar, raisin and some light bitter boozy sweetness. An absurdly cheap and good Barleywine.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Twelve ounce bottle received from Tmoney99 (thanks, Tom!) at ’Natifest ’08, tasted on February 9, 2013--yes, it’s been sitting in the back of my fridge all this time. Medium amber hue, strong sweet aroma with fruit and licorice notes, small tan head, smooth but assertive complex bittersweet flavor with fruity elements, somewhat bitter finish--the ABV certainly makes its presence known. This beer certainly held up well.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from bottle to glass 2012. Copper hue with off white head that dissipated to a ring with yeast sediment in the bottle. Aroma is malt centric with essences of caramel, floral, butter, roast, earthy. Mouthfeel is great with medium body and good carbonation. Taste is sweet throughout with a bitterness following and a slight sharpness in the finish. Overall, this is a decent barleywine that I enjoyed. Not quite as malty as an English but not as hoppy as an American...kind of in the middle and nice.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Vintage 2008, 9.1%ABV
A: Pours a dark, murky chestnut ale. Single finger head of vanilla foam dissipates in a few minutes to a moderate sheet of the same. Spotty lacing.
S: toffee, caramel, good sweet malts. Slight hints of piney hops continue to live in this beer which is a surprise. The beer has a slight oxidized nose, which provides good balance actually. Slight hint of cinnamon.
T: Graham, brown sugar, toffee, raisins. Although nice, quite one dimensional. Fair amount of bitterness at the back end. ABV well hidden, but still detectable.
M: Medium to heavy body with moderate carbonation apply well here. Sticky and chewy.
D: Very drinkable beer. Not the best, but good. Have a few bottles still and will hold onto them and send out as extras.
