agl108 (367), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 29, 2006 12 oz. bottle at Flat Rock Saloon. Pours copper with thin white head that left a little bit of lace. Nice citrus aroma of grapefruit and lemon. Very smooth and not all that bitter for a IIPA. Still great hop character. Very drinkable and the most sessionable of all the IIPAs I’ve had.
msante79 (279), Illinois, USA Oct 8, 2008 Thanks to kegbear for this one! 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy burn orange with small off-white head. Aroma is citrusy, hops, pine and sweet caramel malts. Flavor is hops, orange, grapefruit, pine and caramel malts. Mouthfeel is sweet and syrupy. This brew lacks the hop punch I expect from a IIPA. More of a sessionable IPA than a double which hurts its score. taalhiker (111), Dayton, Ohio, USA Sep 30, 2008 From bottle. Part of April Dayton Beertasting event.
Pours deep golden. Aromas of citrusy hops and malt.
Sweet toffee and grapefruit on the palate.
Nice effort. SamGamgee (591), Santa Cruz, California, USA Sep 26, 2008 12oz bottle. Deep gold with a sticky head. Just a bit of sediment. Sweet malt, peach, candied grapefruit nose. Sweet light crystal malt, semi-dull west coast hopping with bitterness that just fails to cut the residual sugar. Minimal alcohol presence, with a full, chewy body, and modest carbonation. This is a bit clumsy with its malt sweetness, but manages alright. stangger (135), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 21, 2008 12 oz bottle. Orange pour. Aroma is of grapefruit, some pine - bitter hops. Smooth, hoppy and bitter. Strong grapefruity taste but easy to drink. Very hoppy but with plenty of malt to maintain balance. WakeandBake (94), Greenville, Michigan, USA Sep 21, 2008 Bottle. My first Double IPA , A hazy Golden amber color with lots of creamy white head. The aroma was malt and hops and bread. The flavor is awesome, nice thick mouthfeel, and the perfect balance of hops and malt with a yeasty bready background, everything about this offering was very good very tasty, the only downside is that I only had one.
