pours cloudy golden amber, with little white head. the aroma is grapefuit, citrus, and, caramel. The flavor is very sweet, with, with pine, earthy, and some citrus. The palate is a bit watery for a bit beer, and i would like more hop flavor up front with it being a IIPA overall good, but not Great

the Mad River Brewing Company has a logo two fish swimming upstream. Who in their right mind slaps aquatic vertebrae on twelve ounces of liquid grapefruit? Operatives at the MRBC that’s who. Film on the inside of the glass dissipates as I swirl the murky, fish egg baring beer they call it. More grapefruit than third world pickers care to see. The only redeeming quality has to be the high content of alcohol. -prolly the worst W.S.B. impersonation rating ever.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MadRobin (1064) - Silver Spring, USA - JUN 3, 2013
On tap 5 oz. sampler at The V in Ashburn, VA.
Nearly clear, orange-brown with an off-white head and very good lacing.
Aroma of heavy pine resin, citrus and sweet malt. Although fairly even, the malt and hops seem more in conflict than in balance.
Taste of sweet bready malt, pine resin and citrus--again more in conflict than in balance.
Medium body and medium/low carbonization.

Bottle. Pours a deep gold with a thick pillow of white head. Basic DIPA with an unbalanced fight between malt and bitterness. Starts off heavily malty and finishes with a big bitter hoppy bite. Could definitely use some refinement.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 OKplus (560) - Oklahoma, USA - APR 30, 2013
A - Pours a cloudy orange brown. 1/2 inch off-white head sinks quick to form a variety of bubbles.
S - Grapefruit and orange, caramel, toffee, apricots, some muted earthy hops.
T - Caramel malt with a splash of butterscotch. Muted grapefruit, orange, and mango tries to back up the sugary malt but does not succeed. Canned pineapple juice. The tired hops adds a slight bitterness on the finish.
M - Low carbonation, full bodied.
Great caramel malt but the hops seemed to be an afterthought. Not your typical West Coast DIPA. No date on the bottle so I’m not sure if this is old or not. While this isn’t a stellar DIPA, it is actually quite drinkable. The alcahol is very hidden as well.
In a sea of DIPA’s this is pretty average.
