4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Ap - A hazy deep orange that looks like honey. Three-finger pillowy head with good retention and lacing. Noticed a lot of unexpected unfiltered sediment in the last pour. I am guessing it is bottle conditioned.
Ar - smells like a orange juice. Malty aroma balances the citrus hops. A touch of yeast is present as well.
T - Very smooth. Its a honey biscuit with a grapefruit juice chaser. The three flavors are very well balanced for the style. I don’t think I have had an IPA with this high of a yeast profile. But it is pleasant and not overdone. A long finish give you your money’s worth with every sip.
P - Mouthfeel is what it should be for the style. Creamy and a touch sticky. Medium to full bodied and almost creamy.
O - Balance gives this beer high drinkability. My second Mad River brew. So far I am impressed.

Bright orange draft pour at 99 bottles of beer on the wall, in Santa Cruz. Orange and tangerine, ripe fruit and tropical. Good. And little dank fruit.

6 pack with Indian food. Decent, booze sneaks up on you. This one is all west coast- piney, resin, slick, citrus and tropical with caramel malts in the background. Not jumping up and down about this one, but I didn’t stop after one.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazed amber colored liquid with a moderate head of small beige bubbles. Decent lace. Grains and citric scents along with hints of butterscotch and ripe fruit. Very malty flavors. Bitterness is more acidic. Full bodied. I would consider this more English in nature with the amount of malt and less grapefruit flavors. Solid, but it has a few rough edges.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted on tap at King’s Highway in the Ace Hotel. It poured a murky Amber hue with a frothy off-white head and heavy lacing. Bold grapfruit hop aroma that writes the check that the taste has to cash, and it does. Nice brew to enjoy after enjoying an entertaining Super Bowl.

At just on cool and into a chalice. Misty deep amber with a good dose of sea monkeys caught in suspension. Head is up then falls short to settle a sheer island of white. Nose hints at figs, raisins, dried apricot, sticky bark, stewed rhubarb and sappy resin with a perfumed musk and poking tickle of higher alcohol - thick and tantalising. Slightly metallic edge to a flawless, smooth malt and hop offering. Rose petals dominate but there is a monster of a bitter bite that lasts on the palate with a ferocity that I’ve never seen. Big, spicy alcohol hit melds in well. Body is light but it has a good viscosity to it giving it great legs. Like being drowned in grandmothers rose garden. Light oatcake, light dusty malt, light honey smack cereal - everything fades under the hops. Really mouthfilling. Mandarin and the apricot of the nose, some of the stewed rhubarb and plenty of sappy resin form the palate to full. This is a melter of a IIPA. Really had me contemplating liking it whilst kicking me is the arse, saying ’damn straight you like it!’ (12fl.Oz, no date stamp, Int’l Beer Shop, Leederville)
