The original Extra Pale Ale, this is the one that started it all. Our first brew was introduced in 1989 in Golden Gate style kegs. We have stayed true to our beginnings and still brew it the way we did back then. A bright golden hued ale with a medium body and a crisp spicy /floral hop character and very mild bitterness. This unfiltered ale has a pleasing mouth feel and remains our most popular brew. This beer goes with everything and every occasion.

Light gold pour with a frothy white head. Hop aromas are most prevalent. Some malt, though not much. Malt and hops are pretty well balanced in the flavors. Smooth palate and a bitter finish make this a nice pale ale.

Citrus, hoppy aroma, cloudy golden colored, decent sweet lemony flavor, some malts, few hops in the finish. Nice, drinkable, ok beer.

I don't know where the "extra" comes in, it's drinkable but fairly bland.

Hazy pale yellow body. Astringent, citrus hops, chalky aftertaste, thin body. This was not very good. (2nd try - first bottle was bad)

light golden color, fairly large white head, very little scent but may be because my nose was a bit stuffed up from a recent cold.. not a horrible beer, but not GREAT either.

color of a pineapple with the same and some additional florals in the aroma. Too little on the bitters. Not all that impressive.

Very light color as the "extra pale" indicates. Good hop flavor with a fair amount of malt for balance.

Yellow haze with a slight head, aroma is hops and citrus. Starts out as a decent APA but something is not quite right with the finish - it's a bit acidic. Overall it's just an ok APA, nothing I would seek out again.

Straw, hazy yellow color looked rather uninviting, quickly dissapating head, slight lacing. Hearty cascade aroma, citrus leading to crisp bitterness with a somewhat flat finish. A respectable pale ale but not as much character as other APA's available from California.

Uh-oh, it's a permy one. Very cloudy, yet in a manner that suggests hops instead of wheat in the grist; can we please call it the Headless Hopsman? Aroma is perm, and a smattering of various barnyard feces odors than I, unfortunately cannot trace back to species (even being from Kansas). A little bit of Cream-Sicle is present too. Flavor is less pronounced than the aroma (as any student of the senses might expect). Mild, sweet, honey-graham maltiness. Floralness is present in the form of dandelions (and that's a good thing in my book; ever had dandelion wine?). Ends with a sweet touch of honey. Enjoyable, certainly, but doesn't make me exuberant. Goes well with John Denver's "Dreamland Express." Ahh, how the days go by (I'm comfortably buzzed; ignore this).
