Commercial Description:
A black opaque ale with rich creamy roasted malt character and a very mild hop complement. This beer may look a little scary but take a sip and you'll see why this Extra Stout can convert even lite beer drinkers to Stout lovers. A unique flavor profile that starts with a slight coffee flavor and finishes with a hint of roasty chocolate. Try a pint with a scoop of French Vanilla ice cream. This beer is a favorite as a compliment to any dessert or as a hearty breakfast drink.

I really enjoyed this stout. Not a big aroma but a beautiful black color with a large fluffy brown head after a hard pour. Nice malty sweetness with a smoke taste in the background. Ends with a bit of hops.

Bottle from Beer Club: Poured a deep dark brown, almost black with not much head. The aroma was roasted malts, some caramel. The flavor was rich and smooth, espresso and dark chocolate. Overall, a really good Stout.

Pours completely opaque with hardly any head. So many flavors and variations of coffee and dark chocolate but, surprisingly, not very bitter. Flavor lingers for a long time.

BOM. Pour dark black with little if no head. Smell is very potent. Flavor is very complex and lingers on the tough. I’m not a big fan of stouts. This is decent but not something I would drink or buy on a regular basis. However, I do appricate the fine craftsmenship that has gone into this brew.

Black in color......opaque. Creamy head, though it fades pretty fast. Strong roasted malt aroma. Sweet taste up front, with subtle vanilla notes. Very creamy mouthfeel......roasted malt back.

Beer of the Month Club Selection: Poured from a chilled bottled into a pint glass. Pour produced an opaque dark-brown ebony body with a nearly diminishing light brown head of foam. Aroma is an inviting dark roasted malt with the familiar smells of coffee or chocolate. Mildly sweet, with a slight bitterness at the end, this stout is full-bodied without being overbearing. I liked the roast on this stout as well. Sometimes a stout can go overboard on the roasting, and it lands up tasting like burnt coffee. This Steelhead has it right, however, and I will look for this again. A fine selection from my BOMC.

bottle. pours a medium black with a bit of tan head. mild sweet roasted malts in the aroma... very nutty and creamy over the palate. the bitterness balances this one out quite well ... start to finish. quite a good stout.... I’d buy it again.

Bottle. Pours with a black color and a medium sized head. Aromas of malts, coffee and chocolate, flavors of coffee wih some hoppiness mixed in. Medium bodied, not too chewy, a solid stout
