Commercial Description:
A black opaque ale with rich creamy roasted malt character and a very mild hop complement. This beer may look a little scary but take a sip and you'll see why this Extra Stout can convert even lite beer drinkers to Stout lovers. A unique flavor profile that starts with a slight coffee flavor and finishes with a hint of roasty chocolate. Try a pint with a scoop of French Vanilla ice cream. This beer is a favorite as a compliment to any dessert or as a hearty breakfast drink.

Trade form fordest - Thanks! Black, with a thin ring of brown foam. Vanilla, milk chocolate and coffee aroma flavor has a lot of fruity notes in it, which is kinda surprising. So in addition to the expected stout flavors, there is a nice mix of blackberry and prune and raisin. dry, flinty finish.

12 ounce bottle from The Beer of the Month Club. Pours a completely opaque jet black color with a tiny brown head. The aroma was very nutty with hints of chocolate and coffee. Tasted like dark chocolate with hints of vanilla. It left a somewhat bitter taste in the back of my mouth. It had a fairly heavy mouthfeel. This was a very enjoyable extra stout! I am glad I was able to try it!

Pours black with a brown head about 2 fingers thick. Aroma of burnt malts and chocolate. Smoky burnt malt flavors dominate with a bitter finish. Full bodied with low carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Decent stout.

PITCH black and thick with a shortlasting chocolate brown head. somewhat smooth molasses and cognac brew that is full of dates and perhaps raisins. there is a lesser roasted malt character that is lingering. perhaps a touch of charcoal enhanced by a characteristic type carbonation. brandy in the nose. seemed to have been more amped up in the alcohol (as is posted.) i do not find this to be a particularly outstanding brew for ordinary circumstances, though when called for this stout would be a real pleaser. i find quite low chocolate and similar in the sweetness.

12 oz bottle. Black with a tiny brown head - damn near a still beer. Sweet roasty malt and coffee nose, a wisp of smoke, some mild fruitiness. Flavor is way more smoky than anticipated, lightly bitter coffee and chocolate fudge. Very drinkable for a big, flavorful stout. Chocolatey and charcoal finish. Body is the full side of medium. Delightful!
