Pours dark with a nice big dark-tan head. Roasty aroma, some chocolate. This beer has the misfortune to follow a half-bomber of Deschutes Abyss, and it comes off remarkably well, considering. Nice, strong, relatively dry chocolate-driven stout that holds up even after that very intense predecessor.
This one just became available in Washington state, and while I’ll need a couple more to be sure, I suspect this needs to find its way into my fridge on a fairly regular basis. TheBeerOrg (1569), Kentucky, USA

Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, very sweet and little bitterness. Taste is thick, sweet with crystal malt and roast coffee and chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with lush carbonation. beerbastard (98), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 10, 2007 This is one of my favorites. Black, you can’t see nothing thru this. Not much carbonation, but a great mild burnt malt bready aroma. Good mouthfeel, you can chew on this one. Chocolate malt taste. Has a dry clean finish . RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 7, 2007 Pours a hair below pitch black. Nice darker tan head. Nose is of heavily roasted malts. Flavor is smoked and roasted malts. Very robust and deep and uncompromising. Even though it is nice and hearty, it seems a bit one dimensional. Kind of like it is all muscle and no grace. Feel has a good carbonation to it and the liquid is fairly thick. Overall this is a pretty rich and deep stout. No mass of complexity, but definitely deep enough that you might want to put your floaties on before diving in.

Nice chocolate and roast nose, along with the tiniest bit of sour milk. Creamy body, soft carb, rich chocolate and roast flavors forward on the attack and persisting through the mid-palate. Clean, easy-drinking, despite being creamy. Clingy roasty finish. Nice stuff all the way through. alexsdad06 (1080), Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 25, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours black with a small creamy tan head that disappears to a small ring. The aroma is mocha and molasses. The flavor is roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, and molasses. Medium/full bodied and smooth drinking. This is a bit better than advertised IMO.
