| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 29, 2007 The only color that describes this beer is black. Nice dark head as well. Beer was sweet and very chocolaty. Lasting espresso finish. Nice brew! Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 28, 2007 Poured a deep black oily shade with a partly bubbling beige-gray head. Dense and a little watery though thick as an ’extra" should be. Prevalent and robust earthy and coffee nose with typical chocolate characteristics. Fabulous breakfast beverage meal and likely favorable of chocolate or vanilla pairings. DrHomolka (728), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2007 12oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a small, bubbly brown head. Looks impressive. Smell is VERY sweet with some malty and chocoalte notes too. Looks and smells like an Imperial so far. The taste is nowhere near as strong as the appearance or aroma would lead you to believe. Very mild, a bit watery with a sweet chocolate finish. This is a decent stout but I was let down by the flavor. Aurelius (2647), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 13, 2007 An extremely smooth stout. Not overly hopped, but good coffee, chickory, chocolate, roast cashews. Light tartness, muted fruitiness, slight olivine notes. Not very sweet. Choclolate, roast, olive aroma. Absolutely opaque black in a small wine glass. Medium body, maybe tipping over to medium heavy, maybe not. An incredibly good brew, well worth shipping to Florida from Californie. If there were a flaw to point out, it’s that the finish gets a wee bit tart and clingy. Good stuff. PorterPounder (3136), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 9, 2007 Tallahassee, Fl. - Market Sqaure Liquors - 12 oz bottle. Thick, viscous, black as tar pour with a thin mocha colored head. Nice, rich cappucino like aroma with hints of dark chocolate. Dark, rich bitter baker’s chocolate is prevalant in the flavor with some day old black coffee to balance it out. Very earthy with a good roasty undertone. Thick, creamy mouthfeel with good lacticity. Excellent stout - best I have had in a while. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 3, 2007 Now this is a quality stout. Pours thick, dark, black. Huge amounts of roasted malt in the aroma and flavor. Still plenty of hops in the background to keep everything in check. Well done. bitbucket (2031), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 26, 2007 Bottle from BleacherBum - Thanks! Pours an opaque black with a thin and fading tan head. Vanilla, coffee, chocolate smoky notes in the aroma. Creamy medium body with moderate carbonation. More coffee and chocolate with a bit of caramel sweetness in the taste. Dry espresso and burnt toast finish with a slight contribution from the hops. A nice tasty stout. Their marketing guys say "Extra Stout can convert even lite beer drinkers to Stout lovers." Yeah, right. On what planet?
