| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2009 Weak aroma of dirt, dates, and chocolate. Black pour with a huge brown head, fair lacing. Mocha flavor with a tarty, yet faint, raisin/date flavor comes and goes. Watery mouthfeel, attributed more to the faulty pour than the beer itself. Leaves an immaculate palate. Smooth and balanced, but not terribly exciting. milewide (609), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 18, 2009 2009 Peoria International Beer Fest. Pours a clear, black and brown with a small off white head and moderate carbonation. Aroma is almost all of malt with lots of roasted barley showing through, light coffee and chocolate notes also come through. Flavor begins with a bitter black patent malt, followed by coffee and chocolate and ends with a very bitter dark chocolate presence. Overall an okay beer to try but not one I would consider for my every day drinking.
