Commercial Description:
A black opaque ale with rich creamy roasted malt character and a very mild hop complement. This beer may look a little scary but take a sip and you'll see why this Extra Stout can convert even lite beer drinkers to Stout lovers. A unique flavor profile that starts with a slight coffee flavor and finishes with a hint of roasty chocolate. Try a pint with a scoop of French Vanilla ice cream. This beer is a favorite as a compliment to any dessert or as a hearty breakfast drink.

Black color, with lots of roasted malt flavor. Medium head. Solid body. Modest hop profile.

Chocolate. Roast. Lots of body. A bit of a surprise for me. Wasn’t expecting the quality.

A thick sticky tan head above an opaque black body, Aroma is coffee, nuts, caramel, and tea. Taste is sweet, tea, licorice, taffy, and pepper. Texture is smooth, with a nice rounded mouthfeel. A great session, even if not by definition. Very enjoyable, and extremely affordable, at $12 a case at Canal’s Lawrenceville, NJ.

Nice dark brown/black pour wtih a simple brown head. Aroma is heavy on coffee and booze with a bit of chocolate and sugar. Flavor is very good, chocolate, roastiness, coffee and the beer is alittle creamy. Well done.

2009 Peoria International Beer Fest. Pours a clear, black and brown with a small off white head and moderate carbonation. Aroma is almost all of malt with lots of roasted barley showing through, light coffee and chocolate notes also come through. Flavor begins with a bitter black patent malt, followed by coffee and chocolate and ends with a very bitter dark chocolate presence. Overall an okay beer to try but not one I would consider for my every day drinking.

(Rating #2392)

12 oz bottle from Bev4less. Pours an opaque black color with a small tan head. The aroma is moderate in strength with dark fruits and licorice. The flavor is earthy with dirt, black licorice, burnt toast and chocolate. The mouthfeel is unbalanced with a thin beginning, a gritty middle and a creamy conclusion. The finish is short and dry with lingering black licorice. Overall: A decent beer, but not up to the higher standards, and expectations, of a good craft stout.
