Commercial Description:
A black opaque ale with rich creamy roasted malt character and a very mild hop complement. This beer may look a little scary but take a sip and you'll see why this Extra Stout can convert even lite beer drinkers to Stout lovers. A unique flavor profile that starts with a slight coffee flavor and finishes with a hint of roasty chocolate. Try a pint with a scoop of French Vanilla ice cream. This beer is a favorite as a compliment to any dessert or as a hearty breakfast drink.

Black with a small brown head. Chocolate and caramel in the aroma. Coffee, caramel, and cocoa in the flavor, along with a tartness in the finish that didn’t quite fit in all that well with the flavor.

Dry. Mostly malty, but with little sweetness. Dominantly roasty coffee/chocolate flavors. Maybe a bit of herbal hops. Moderate carbonation with a light, wet palate. Some of that porter flavor that I ususally call peanut butter, but itsn’t quite that. Bitterness makes an appearance in the back with the roasted coffee/chocolate. Lighter bodied than it should be, but other than that a nice, tasty beer. Not sure why it’s not called a dry stout, though.

The bottle poured a thick, virtually black beverage with a small fizzy tan head. The head was mostly diminishing and left no lacing on the glass. The aroma was mostly malty, dominated by molasses with notes of chocolate, coffee and dried plum. This one has a very full body with light carbonation and a thick, creamy texture. The flavor started off moderately sweet with a slight earthy nose. The medium-long finish was lightly sweet with a light alcoholic warmth.

Deep dark stout with a nice dark moka head, which dissipates, no lacings. Nice vanilla chocolate aroma, and light coffee notes. In mouth, a nice chocolate malt with some metallic hops, and smoked peat notes, but not a lot of hops left as beer is 1.5 yr old. The body is thinner than expected, but nice residual burned coffee linger on. Bought at World Market, San Francisco, Summer 2004.

Black color, tan head, coffee/smokey aroma, bitter chocolate-smokey flavors, nice full and dry mouthfeel, has a nice hop bite in the finish, a nice tasty easy drinking stout.

Nice dark brown color, small tan head that faded quickly leaving nothing behind. The aroma was roasty with a bit of a coffee note and maybe some hints of chocolate. The flavor wasn’t bad at all.Nice roasty flavor with a decent chocoalte side and a mild coffee side coming on towrds the middle. It doesn’t rank up there with the top of the line brews in the style but it’s definately quaffable for sure.

Bottle poured an almost opaque brownish black with a quickly dissapating brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Palate was a bit thin and dry. Flavors of dark chocolate, some roastiness, and coffee with a mildly bitter, slightly dry finish.
