Chocolate and licorice in the aroma. Same flavour, with some coffee and roast malt. Quite rich, but not the most full bodied stout. Rather nice though. Bottled at the Green Leafe Cafe, Williamsburg.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2004 opaque black, foamy tan head. roast, coffee, brown sugar, smoke and malt aroma with some cocoa. starts a little sweet and chocolatey, moves tart and raisiny, finishes roasty, but doesn’t really live up to the aroma. still quite nice. beerhugger (541), Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2004 Well the experience was certainly a factor for this one. Being from an area where the idea of variety in the Liquor Store is how many Eastern European beers are able to be stacked up, I was very excited to be making the journey to Premier Gourmet to indulge a little. And to make it all even better they were sampling this as you walk in. Nice nearly black stout with the requisite tan head. Aromas pretty standard - some roasty and some chocolate sweet malts. Flavours the same with just a little bitterness to finish. Not a great smooth bittersweet chocolate though, just a little edge as it left. Not bad, but made better by the moment. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2004 Pours pretty much pitch black in color. Aroma is sweet and creamy with a roasted scent. Flavor is roasty and has a bit of hop flavor. Not quite as rich as it could be be but still good. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 21, 2004 nice black pour, and a great palate...a roasted chocolate aroma...flavor was a bit of a let down (a decent smoky chocolate flavor, with a not so decent bitter aftertaste)...not a bad beer by any means, but somewhat dissapointing garrison (455), Cin. city, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 19, 2004 From a 2002 bottle - I love stouts, and this is a fine example of the breed... it poured with a sweet, malty aroma and a rapidly diminishing small head of tan foam. This brew has an exceptionally smooth mocha-like taste, and a clean "high palate" finish... thank you, sir, may I have another? Sven (229), Lancaster, California, USA
