Commercial Description:
A black opaque ale with rich creamy roasted malt character and a very mild hop complement. This beer may look a little scary but take a sip and you'll see why this Extra Stout can convert even lite beer drinkers to Stout lovers. A unique flavor profile that starts with a slight coffee flavor and finishes with a hint of roasty chocolate. Try a pint with a scoop of French Vanilla ice cream. This beer is a favorite as a compliment to any dessert or as a hearty breakfast drink.

Bottle. Moderate malt notes of toasted, dark chocolate and strong coffee, resin for the hops, earth for the yeast and tar in the background. Head is small, fizzy, brown with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is black. Flavor is very slightly sweet and lightly acidic to start and moderately bitter in the finish. Palate is medium to full, watery and has a carbonation between soft and lively. it finishes dry. An okay stout, just a little one dimensional in flavor.

dark black/super dark brown with no light penetration. cream colored head. I could smell this from the pour. Prunes, prunes, prunes and a hint of burnt chocolate espresso/coffee with a huge amount of hop-less goodness! One of the best smells I’ve ever had out of an american stout. You can taste the burnt coffee and well, that’s kind of it. There’s really no huge taste that I expected out of a beer with such a huge nose. Feels pretty good like going down with a carbonated and light thickness oil like liquid. Quiet drinkable but I’m disappointed in the flavor. SHould be bolder based on the nose. Still not a bad pick up. I would like this over many stouts!

Thick black with dark brown head--nice looking. Chocolatey aroma and flavors with some very solid roastiness. Good one.

Bottle.Pours black with a nice initial head that fades ta a slight rim. Light roastiness on the nose, as well as some lightly sweet malt and perhaps a touch of dark fruit. The taste is nice, with a balanced creaminess, roastiness, and hints of chocolate and licorice. Smooth and firm mouthfeel with a soft finish.Drinkable but I could only drink 2 at a sitting I think. A very good brew

Sampled at the stout tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 10/23/08. Pours darkest brown with a 1/2 inch head. Aroma was surprisingly sweet with not much else going on. Flavor is a bit sweet up front, but finishes dry and coffee-ish. Some chocolate. Full-bodied and very tasty.
