COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A black opaque ale with rich creamy roasted malt character and a very mild hop complement. This beer may look a little scary but take a sip and you’ll see why this Extra Stout can convert even lite beer drinkers to Stout lovers. A unique flavor profile that starts with a slight coffee flavor and finishes with a hint of roasty chocolate. Try a pint with a scoop of French Vanilla ice cream. This beer is a favorite as a compliment to any dessert or as a hearty breakfast drink.

Yes, this gets a perfect score. One of a very elite class. Why? My wife and I have conducted double-blind taste tests over the past 5 years of every Stout (of the same basic style; not Oatmeal, Imperial, Coffee, Chocolate or Cream/Milk Stouts) we could get our hands on (about 50) and Steelhead has come out the victor every single round! This is an extremely unique, thick, full-bodied, rich Stout the way a Stout should be. When one decants a Steelhead, a thick layer of goodness can be seen on the bottom of each bottle. We have found that the beer becomes even more complex (if such a thing could be possible given the unbelieveable depth of this brew) if we decant 11 oz. then swirl the final ounce around to loosen the sediment before pouring the last bit. This also serves to create a beautiful thick, rich, dark brown head.

Black brown pour with beautiful mocha head. Roast coffee with caramel aroma. Initial sweetness at first pour had me a little wary. I let it settle, and it balanced perfectly. The tast is roast to burnt coffee, a little chocolate and malt. The hops bitter balances it out. The feel is full bodied and silky. Great.

Black in color......opaque. Creamy head, though it fades pretty fast. Strong roasted malt aroma. Sweet taste up front, with subtle vanilla notes. Very creamy mouthfeel......roasted malt back.

Wonderfully decadent, lacking the harshness of some extra stouts. A rich, toasty flavor. Only flaw is a lackluster aroma. One of the best beers of this style.

Holy cow this is good! This is a very dark appearing ale. It almost looks black! It has a wonderful malty aroma with a touch of hops. The flavor was the most distinctive thing about it. It starts with an almost coffee flavor then moves on to a chocolate aftertaste. It has a good mouthfeel and I can almost picture this with a scoop of vanilla ice cream like a root beer float.

Wow! This brew is nice. Pours almost black w/ minimal froth. Hangtime is minimal aswell. Aroma is like chocolate milk. Full nectar w/ mellow residual effers creates a very creamy, milky texture. Big milk chocolate flavors bound together by a mild roast component. Theres a mild sweetness about it. The finish is bittered ever so slightly leaving a gentl tingle on the palate.

From bottle : Pours a black as night color, with a small short lived borwn coffee colored head. A nice aroma, like a chocolate candy bar, very good, like you could eat the smell of this baby. Flavor is really fantastic. Coffee notes up front, then a very nice ending, it goes from malty, then transitions into roasted chocolate, and thats the aftertaste it leaves. Smooth as velvet on the palate, and a nice and thick body. This has to be one of the best stouts i’ve had to date. Wow.

Bottle. Pours a very thick near-black with a thin tan head. There are definitely some strong roasted flavors, but there’s also just a hint of some hoppy bitterness underneath. Roasting and chocolate notes in the taste. Thick and heavy on the palate, yet very smooth. Good one.
