Sparky27 (583), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep black with a 2 finger tan head and spotty lacing. Nose is chocolate, roasted malt and mild coffee. Taste is ash, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans with a slight hop bitter finish. Medium creamy mouth feel. Pleasantly surprised with this one. Decent stout. hellbilly (901), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Sep 16, 2008 pours nearly opaque with lots of clumps of yeast and nearly black. it’s topped by a medium sized medium brown head that has some orange tints to it. intensely fruity aroma... strawberries and red table grapes mix with rich maltiness, chocolate, light molasses and smoky notes. the flavor is really quite rich... roasty grain, red grapes, fudgy chocolate, wood/oak/vanilla, some ash and a root beer/licorice/birch beer/sasparilla soda flavor that i can’t pinpoint. dry lightly spicy finish is bitter and ashy/charred. big ’ol coffee aftertaste. medium body with creamy soft carbonation when warm. (allow this to warm as the carbonation is prickly and unpleasant when cold!). i was not expecting this... i’m impressed! JustinFromAL (68), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Sep 13, 2008 Bottle.
