3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Aubrey (3341) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - MAY 2, 2001Throat-warming alcohol is evident from the start. Then you notice its richness and boldness. A little rough around the edges, but it’s a small price to pay. Some malt flavors eventually make their way through the ethyl. Smoky-burnt flavors seem to get most of the attention; malts take the back seat. Becomes smokier with every sip. Some burly stuff, no doubt.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jonno (2001) - JAPAN - MAY 17, 2013
Rich, velvelty smooth, lots of character. Not so roasty for a porter and the malty scotch base a nice layer underpinning the chocolate and espresso. A well rounded and highly likeable beer.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TimE (2584) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAY 17, 2013
Medium brown color. Peaty, whiskey fill nose. Much more of a scotch ale, rather than porter in the nose. Mouth. Malty mouth, with good roasted malt and chocolate character under whiskey notes. Smooth malty finish. Enjoyable.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cantabrian (381) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 11, 2013
Funny, that I though this was an ordinary porter and I got annoyed with the excessive aroma and flavour of whisky. That, in addition to the coffee. Appearance was certainly strange, with a massive amount of brown bits suspended in the blackish watery liquid. The head was fleeting. The best thing was perhaps the fine chalkish sensation on the bite, more like talcum powder. Overall, not half as good as their stout.

A Scotch Porter. Great idea, great combination. The Scotch is very evident, and pleasing, compared to a solo Scotch Ale. Nice smokey malt as well.

Aroma is roasted malt with some peat. Pours dark brown with very little head. Taste is a little bit of chocolate malt. Finishes smooth with a little bit of the peat that it promised. Bottle at world of beer: Denver.

12 oz bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is roasted malts, light smoke, caramel, wood. Medium to full body and smooth with a chewy feel. The flavor is mostly roasted smoked malts, with some caramel, chocolate and light hop bitterness. Finishes dry and a bit ashy. A unique and complex porter.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jjgmd (733) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - JAN 22, 2013
Pours a dark mahogany muddy brown, with solid particles abound. Nose is malty and chocolate , with some subtle notes if alcohol. Taste is full of flavor, chocolate and malty, and sweet smoky oaky vanilla taste as well. Finish is dry, moderately long and the flavored follow through quite nicely. Quaff Score 8 / 10 Real nice porter!
